Johnson Faculty Senate East Carolina University Dear Dr. Johnson: With regard to the motions approved by the Faculty Senate at its April 21 meeting, the following actions have been taken: 81-25 Approved 81-26 Approved 81-28 Approved 81-29 Approved 81-30 Approved 81-31 Approved 81-33 Approved 81-34 Approved 81-35 Referred to the Advisory Committee on Codes. 81-38 Approved 81-39 Referred to the Advisory Committee on Codes. The Senate at its April 21 meeting rejected a proposal to include a Fall break in the Fall Semester of 1982. Since that meeting, I have received a petition from the Student Government Association asking this office to over- ride that vote of the Faculty Senate and to instigate a Fall break in the Fall of 1982. As the Senate has endorsed a Fall break as University policy by its vote to include one in the Fall Semester of 1983, I see no reason why the break could not be brought in a year earlier. We have yet to print materials which include the 1982-83 calendar. Therefore, I am deciding in favor of the Student Government Association in their appeal. A Fall break will be included in the Fall Semester of 1982. The exact date, as well as for the Fall of 1983, will be on the 6th, 7th, or 8th weekend of the Fall. Best regards, A / 4 - eels ftw.
