MINUTES OF THE
UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE

January 15, 1981

The University Curriculum Committee met on January 15, 1981, in Brewster
B-193 at 3:00 p.m. Members present were: Daugherty, Boyce, Cain, Richards,
Foley, Broadhurst, Hamilton, Holt, Leahy, Moore. Members absent: Grossnickle,
Hancock,

The meeting was chaired by Stella Daugherty.
The minutes of December 4, 1980, were approved.

Professors Wilbur Castellow and E. Marsha Ironsmith, Department of
Psychology, presented the new course propose], PSYC 2250, Selected Topics in
Psychology. They also requested a change in the catalogue description of
PSYC 3241, Personnel and Industrial Psychology, adding the fact that students
may not also take MGMT 4242 for credit. This appears on page 227 of the
Undergraduate Catalogue, 1989-1981. Professor Richards moved to accept the

new course and the catalogue chanre. Boyce seconded, and the motion passed.

Professor Douglas Ray, Department of Drama and Speech presented the
new course proposal, DRAM 4030, Creative Dramatics. He also requested that

the Department delete Speech 2013 from the B.S. program and add Speech 3018,
Speech 3022, and Drama 4030 to program requirements. This would change
the number of elective hours from 10 s.h. to 3.s.h. Professor Mocre moved

to accept the new course and the program changes as presented. Cain seconded
and the motion passed.

Selected Topics in Psychology (3) (On demand)

Three (3) classroom hours per week

Prerequisites: Psychology 1050

The study of important current development in psychology. Topic

will vary but may include Psychology of Sleep and Dreams, Psy-

chology and Contemporary Affairs, or Creativity.

Personnel and Industrial Psychology (3) (F,S)

Prerequisite: PSYC 1050.

A systems approach is used to study employee-employer relation-
ships influencing productivity and satisfaction. Secondary
emphasis is placed on employee selection, job analysis, perfor-
mance appraisal and training. Research is applied to industrial,
governmental, and military organizations.

(Students may not also take MGMT 4242 for credit.)

Creative Dramatics (3) (S-alternate years)
Three classroom hours weekly

Prerequisites: None
Involves informal, improvised dramatics with children, and the

preparation of leaders to conduct such sessions in the school

and community.
