On April 6, 1981, Chancellor Brewer responded to Dr. Thomas Johnson that he was
taking resolution 81-14 under advisement.

Make parking permits available at
reduced rate.

Furnish a permanent ID/Activity card.

Make tickets for athletic events
available at half-price (same as
faculty).

Make concert/dinner theatre tickets
available at faculty prices.

Continue to include (if possible)
retirees in group insurance coverage.

Continue to honor retirees each year
with a reception/dinner hosted by the
Chancellor.

Provide for each retiree at time of
retirement a Retirees Recognition
Package which will include the infor-
mation/items above.

I am now prepared to give a response to
the seven points of the resolution as follows:

Response

Joe Calder has been issuing free
permits to retired faculty for
several years. Suggest that free
permits be available on request to
the Director of Public Safety.

On request, the cognizant Vice
Chancellor will issue the same ID
card now issued and simply type
RETIRED on the front of it.

Ken Karr has agreed to this. Retiree
Should make status known at time of
purchase.

University Union is now doing this.
Retiree should make status known at
time of purchase.

Group insurance is now available if
retiree wants to pay the portion
formerly paid by the State.

Chancellor will continue to do this.

This will be done at time of reception/
dinner.

FACULTY WELFARE COMMITTEE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, we the faculty of ECU appreciate the years of unselfish and
dedicated service rendered by those who have preceded us, and;

WHEREAS, many of these people were instrumental in securing the fringe
benefits we now enjoy and;

WHEREAS, they continue to make a contribution through their very presence,
expertise and inspiration; therefore, be it

RESOLVED: that faculty members who are retired from ECU be accorded certain
privileges, to wit:

Make parking permits available at reduced rate

Furnish a permanent ID/Activity card

Make tickets for athletic events available at half-price

(same as faculty)

Make concert/dinner theatre tickets available at faculty prices
Continue to include (if possible) retirees in group insurance
coverage

Continue to honor retirees cach year with a reception/dinner

The above resolution was amended and approved in the February 17, 1981,
Faculty Senate meeting.
