The Continuing Education Committee advises the Dean of Continuing Education on programs, faculty, Student services such as study skills, career and academic counseling, and future directions of continuing education. The committee examines and recommends policies relating to faculty teaching including qualifications, number of hours and ‘compensation, in the Division of Continuing Education. The committee recommends to the Faculty Senate policies relating to teaching assignments, qualifications, and compensation of faculty in the Division of Continuing Education. The Committee insures that wit codes. continue to conform to the East Carolina University Code, all additions and deletions to both the wniversity. and academic umit. codes to be submitted to the Committee, for its review, before submission to the Faculty Senate, and hears appeals by an faculty member concerning the application of governance procedures of both the university code and the wit code within his or her unit. The Committee recommends changes in ‘the Constitution and By-Laws of the Faculty Senate, the Faculty Manual, the East Carolina Uni- versity Code and the unit codes to the Faculty Senate. When evaluating the implementation of governance procedures, the Com- mittee makes recommendations to the unit and to appropriate ad- ministrative officials. The Committee. reports’ to the Faculty Senate as often as necessary, but at least once a year. As an-appellate body, the Committee is empowered to evaluate the manner in which governance procedures have been followed and to make this evaluation known to the appropriate administrative officials and faculty. .
