New Business October 15, 1980 Revised Charge of 1. Continuing Education Committee 2. 5 faculty members and 1 student member, plus ex officio: Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs or an appointed representative, Dean of the Division of Continuing Education, and Director of the Counseling Center or an appointed representative. Quorum: 3 faculty members exclusive of ex officio. 4. A. The Continuing Education Committee advises the Dean of Continuing Education on programs, faculty, student services such as study skills, career and academic counseling, and future directions of continuing education. ‘The committee examines and recommends policies relating to faculty teaching including qualifications, number of hours and compensation, in the Division of Continuing Education. The committee recommends to the Faculty Senate policies relating to teaching assignments, qualifications, and compensation of faculty in the Division of Continuing Education. The committee makes appropriate recommendations to the Dean of Continuing Education. The committee reports to the Senate as often as necessary but at least once a year. The committee is empowered to recommend to the Dean of Continuing Education programs relating to the Division of Continuing Education. October 15, 1980 Revised Charge. of 1. University Libraries Committee 2. Membership: 9 faculty members, at least 3 from the Graduate Faculty; at least one from the Medical School; one student member; ex officio: the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs or an appointed representative; the Director of Library Services; the Director of the Health Sciences Library. 3. Quorum: 5 elected faculty members 4. A. The University Libraries Committee is concerned with the develop- ment of library collections of books, periodicals, and other materials ; library services, and the apportionment of university library budgets. The Committee recommends to the Faculty Senate major policies concerning: 1. The development of library collections; 2. Library services; 3. The apportionment of library budgets. The Committee reports to the Faculty Senate as often as necessary but at least once a year. arte University Libraries Committee continued. The Committee advises the director of university libraries on matters relating to the services and facilities of the library; 2. The Committee interprets the problems and policies of the libraries to the faculty and brings faculty opinion and needs to the library staffs. October 15, 1980 Revised Charge of 1. Faculty Governance Committee 2. Seven faculty members, plus ex officio: Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs or an appointed representative and the immediate past chairman of the Faculty in residence. Quorum: Five faculty members exclusive of ex officio. A. The Faculty Governance Committee considers matters relating to the Constitution and By-Laws of the Faculty Senate; the Faculty Manual, where there is no conflict with the functions of the Committee on Committees, unit codes of operation; unit reevaluations, and the East Carolina University Code. The Committee insures that unit codes continue to conform to the East Carolina University Code, all additions and deletions to both the university and academic unit codes to be submitted to the Cummittee, for its review, before submission to the Faculty Senate; calls for the requirod unit reevaluations as specified by the East Carolina University Code; and hears appeals by any faculty member concerning the application of governance procedures of both the university code and the wit code within his or her unit. The Committee recommends changes in the Constitution and By-Laws of the Faculty Senate, the Faculty Manual, the East Carolina Uni- versity Code and the unit codes to the Faculty Senate. When evaluating the implementation of governance procedures, the Com- mittee makes recommendations to the unit and to appropriate administrative officials. The Committee reports to the Faculty Senate as often as necessary, but at least once a year. As an appellate body, the Committee is empowered to evaluate the manner in which governance procedures have been followed and to make this evaluation known to the appropriate administrative officials and faculty. October 15, 1980 Revised Charge of 1. Calendar Committee 2. Five (5) faculty members and one student member, plus ex officio: Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs or an appointed representative 3. Three (3) elected faculty members 4. A. The Calendar Committee is concerned with (1) the number of days the University shall be in session during the regular terms and the beginning and closing dates; (2) the number of days and the beginning and closing dates for each semester and summer session term; (3) the scheduling of examination periods; and (4) the scheduling of holidays and vacation periods. The Committee shall make recommendations concerning these matters. The Committee makes its recommendations to the Faculty Senate in time for revision or amendment by the Faculty Senate. The Committee reports to the Faculty Senate as often as necessary, but at least once a year.
