Specific Instructions from the Faculty Senate 1. Senate Resolution 80-17 -- Study the problem where personnel committees hear appeals on their previous action. (From February 26, 1980, Faculty Senate meetiny) Senate Resolution 80-33-- Consider the question of allowing the immiediate past chair of the Faculty and the delegates to the Faculty Assembly to have a vote (in Faculty Senate Moetings) if they are not elected Faculty Senators. Proposed Constitutional Amendment to the Constitution of the Faculty of East Carclina University, Section XI, Agenda of the Faculty Senate. VI. The Committee is formally organized and conducts business using Roberts' Rules of Order. Where necessary the Committee adjourns for research until the next meeting or the Chair appoints subcommittees to conduct research on specific items for the next meeting. A subcommittee to study a grievance by the Department of Mathematics was also established. VII. Committee Accomplishments in 1980-81 Rewriting of the Code of East Carolina University. Study of all unit codes and code bylaws, to see if there is any governance problems created by personnel committees which hear appeals on their own previous action. Decided that alJ bylaws to unit codes should be on file in the Faculty Senate Office. Studied the question of the advisibility of allowing voting privileges in the Faculty Senate of the Faculty Assembly Delegates and the immediate past Chair of the Faculty if they are not elected Senators by their mit but took no action cue to a split vote. Studied the administrative reorganization of certain schools and other units in relation to possible reorganization of the Faculty Senate but took no action for the coming academic year. tudied and suggested changes in the revision of Section XI of the Constitution of the Faculty Senate. Suggested changes were made in the Agenda Committee memberships. Unit Codes A. The new unit code for the School of Art was considered and approved. B. Amenduents to the unit code of the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Safety were considered and approved. C. A revised code for the Department of Biology was considered and returned with problem areas addressed and suggested changes. VIII. Faculty Senate Resolutions originating with the Committee: None IX.
