Demill writes that he sent boots for the Jonesborough Guard. Demill also says that $810.43 is due to him for advances that he gave to the men. Since he will not be reimbursed by Major Gilliam as expected, he says that Sparrow can arrange for the the money be sent to him by the State. The Civil War correspondence relates the activities of Thomas Sparrow and his Washington Grays from their formation as a volunteer company in April of 1861, until their parole from a Union prison in February, 1862.
