Hacks Co After Passengers And Mall And <lb />

Wednesday night gave the pub- <lb />

tor the incoming train, with a <lb />
downpour rain to add to <lb />
discomfort of those who waited. <lb />
Passenger No. was <lb />
thirty minutes late, which <lb />
was not considered very bad for <lb />
the time of year. The crowd of <lb />
passengers to go away, those <lb />
who to meet people coming <lb />
in, gathered at depot <lb />
for its coming. There it was <lb />
that, freight train No. <lb />

The half hour lengthened <lb />
into an hour and yet no <lb />
About o'clock a bedraggled <lb />
brakeman came walking up <lb />
track to depot and reported <lb />
that the freight was wrecked <lb />
about a mile beyond river and <lb />
could not move, and the <lb />
was up right behind it. <lb />
The hacks put out for the scene to <lb />
get passengers and mall and <lb />
bring them over to town, and all <lb />
got in after awhile. <lb />
wreck was not extensive <lb />
resulted only in damage to the <lb />
engine of the freight train. It <lb />
seems that the train was too heavy <lb />
for the engine and stalled when <lb />
the grade beyond river was <lb />
reached. engine was <lb />
and came over to tank <lb />
water, leaving cars standing <lb />
track. No light wan on the <lb />
front car and when the <lb />
back in the darkness it run <lb />
cars with such a that <lb />
tender was smashed and <lb />
trucks knocked off the track. <lb />
passenger train pulled the <lb />
freight cars back to House <lb />
put them on the sidetrack, <lb />
while log engine went <lb />
over from here and pulled <lb />
disabled engine out of way <lb />
cleared the truck, so that by II <lb />
o'clock the passenger train could, <lb />

Another engine had to be pro <lb />

MENTION<lb />
CHURCH FOR ALL WORSHIP- <lb />
A German Physician Believes <lb />
Fighting the Devil is the <lb />
Principal Occupation <lb />
for Christmas. <lb />
St. Louis, most unique <lb />
church in Christendom is to be <lb />
in South St. Louis by Dr. <lb />
August Schmidt, a German <lb />
who has come to the <lb />
that all church denominations <lb />
are good and all creeds <lb />
penally correct, and that there <lb />
should be a church in every city <lb />
n- people of every <lb />
may go and worship the one <lb />
God. <lb />
In Dr. Schmidt's church, which <lb />
he will build and equip with his <lb />
own money, there will be no <lb />
no choir, no ceremony, col- <lb />
plate or fixed service. A <lb />
set of chimes and a pipe organ <lb />
operated by will furnish <lb />
constant music of a kind calculated <lb />
to men and turn their <lb />
thoughts toward things spiritual. <lb />
Dr. Schmidt believes that the <lb />
churches err in confining their <lb />
efforts too st I j to the worship <lb />
of God, which he holds is a <lb />
form worship after all. He <lb />
holds that main duty of a <lb />
Christian is to light the devil, mid <lb />
he maintains that the devil is <lb />
within and that <lb />
who spends all of hi- days in <lb />
will himself absorb- <lb />
ed into and become a part of the <lb />
evil alter death. He ha- no <lb />

It begins to appear that the cotton <lb />
crop of this county will be little <lb />
short of the usual amount this year <lb />
in spite of the great reduction of <lb />
acreage at was made last spring. <lb />
This that more care and bet- <lb />

much as that bestowed on a large <lb />
number last year, for the seasons <lb />
were no better during the past year <lb />
