does lie earn. The truth is, almost <lb/>

hold the job Many an employ- <lb/>

it otherwise the sad <lb/>

of the paper to lead and not follow <lb/>
in the march of progress The <lb/>

an index of progress of the town. <lb/>
Through these years the two have <lb/>
grown along together. <lb/>
The little paper of 1894 had ex- <lb/>

growth of the town that when the <lb/>

half confidence, real service <lb/>
and the service that is by <lb/>
the amount of money that is drawn <lb/>
on Saturday night and by the clock <lb/>
which permits leaving work at a <lb/>

It is curious how thoughtless an <lb/>
how some people are <lb/>
who work for <lb/>
they fail to realize that whether or <lb/>
not their services are fully <lb/>
they owe it to themselves to do <lb/>
each day's work that is in them, and <lb/>

The Success of Ad-venture. <lb/>
in the business world <lb/>
has ever proven to win <lb/>
success, as it was needed when in <lb/>
I he early days the spirit of <lb/>
should lead men to risk life and <lb/>
property in search of new lands. <lb/>
The local merchant of a town will <lb/>
complain because his fellow citizens, <lb/>
those who ought to purchase <lb/>
goods at home, send their orders to <lb/>
the big city merchant. Hut is this <lb/>

It is not necessary now to point out <lb/>
the advantages to the business <lb/>
of a paper this size, as these will <lb/>

time. <lb/>
In speaking of the put progress <lb/>
of the paper, which we have a par- <lb/>

No greater mistake could be made. <lb/>
The sealed down advertisement, is <lb/>
certain to make the merchant have <lb/>
less spirit in his business, the <lb/>
merchant who has the true spirit of <lb/>

property here this purpose. <lb/>
site selected for the depots <lb/>

located. The passenger depot will <lb/>
Dickinson avenue near where <lb/>
the Godwin shop now stands, and <lb/>
the freight depot will be just back <lb/>
on the side of Ninth street <lb/>
on the former Greenville tobacco <lb/>
warehouse site. This give ample <lb/>
room for Doth passenger and <lb/>
freight traffic. <lb/>
The I ii in rd of aldermen at an <lb/>
adjourned meeting held <lb/>
day night granted a right of way <lb/>
South Pitt street from the <lb/>
southern limits of the town to and <lb/>
across Ninth street, which gives <lb/>
access to the site selected for the <lb/>
depots. <lb/>
It is said that the construction <lb/>
of the road has been divided into <lb/>
seven sections, and each section <lb/>
let to contract under bond that <lb/>
the work be completed before <lb/>
the first day September, 1907. <lb/>
Bo it is safe to say that the road <lb/>
will be completed in operation <lb/>
within eighteen months from today <lb/>
Our townsman, Mr. L. I. Moore, <lb/>
is largely interested in this enter- <lb/>
prise, is enthusiastic over the <lb/>
