Greenville is in be <lb />
I upon having c m i <lb />
phone system a- one recently <lb />
installed. The circuit ale full <lb />
and the wires <lb />
throughout the town. <lb />
The offices of the exchange are <lb />
on the upper Boor building <lb />
in rear the -u Third <lb />
street and the equipment there is <lb />
modern. In one room <lb />
are the dynamo, motor and storage <lb />
batteries that supply the current, <lb />
lightning arresters the <lb />
frame through which the <lb />
of wires are distributed <lb />
from the cables operating <lb />
room. The operating room is <lb />
large well arranged. In this <lb />
i. the board, central energy <lb />
multiple pattern, large enough to <lb />
accommodate with <lb />
for three operators. The <lb />
calls are made by means of a self <lb />
restoring signal. <lb />
There are two other rooms, one <lb />
used as the manager's office <lb />
the other as storage room for <lb />
supplies. The whole make a <lb />
convenient and well arranged suite <lb />
rooms for the exchange. <lb />
A marked contrast with old <lb />
plant is that each subscriber's <lb />
station is now equipped with a <lb />
telephone that does <lb />
away with the old style of crank <lb />
turning, all that is necessary to <lb />
signal central office to <lb />
the receiver and place <lb />
it to when the <lb />
is through there is no <lb />
but simply hanging the <lb />
receiver back in place notifies <lb />
the central operator the <lb />
conversation is finished. <lb />
Another great convenience in <lb />
the new plant is that now there <lb />
are out town points <lb />

for that ancient game. <lb />
from earliest childhood the boys <lb />

us pupils have mastered the moves <lb />
and the rules of the game they are <lb />
encouraged to undertake the <lb />
of chess problems and to in- <lb />

We cannot content ourselves with <lb />

patients. The hospital or asylum <lb />
should be at an accessible point to <lb />
