When Joseph Cobb was elected <lb />

He volunteered in the Confederate <lb />
service but, owing to a <lb />
limb, he was discharged and he <lb />
then as Confederate state <lb />

which he moved and on which he <lb />
lived several years. He was <lb />
fond of the independence of farm <lb />
life agricultural <lb />
He read the best agricultural pub- <lb />

best in that fine farming <lb />
section of his adopted county. <lb />
While living on his farm he be- <lb />
came a justice of the peace <lb />
Falkland township discharged <lb />
its duties with great acceptability <lb />
to the good people of section. <lb />
In 1878 he was nominated and <lb />
elected to the responsible office <lb />
sheriff of Pitt county by the Deal- <lb />
party. He win again <lb />
and without enemies. <lb />
When he was elected he <lb />
removed his family to Green <lb />
he lived bis death <lb />
In when the great state ex- <lb />
was held Raleigh, <lb />
Sheriff Warren undertook <lb />
work of collecting an exhibit for <lb />
county of Pitt. This was a <lb />
labor of love and patriotic pride <lb />
ii m, but he went about <lb />
work in such a systematic and in- <lb />
way that he soon found <lb />
people ready and willing to <lb />
help him. As a result of this <lb />
combined effort of leader and <lb />
he took Io Raleigh dis- <lb />
played great exhibit-on <lb />
hall a collection of the resources <lb />
bis county that excited the <lb />
pride and admiration of the thous- <lb />
ands the exposition <lb />
Had he rendered- his no <lb />
other service this alone <lb />
cause tho people to hold in <lb />
grateful remembrance. <lb />
