GREENVILLE, PITT COUNTY. NORTH CAROLINA, TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 1904. <lb/>
No. <lb/>
ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE MAYOR <lb/>
OF GREENVILLE <lb/>
Greenville, N. C, Nov. 4th, 1904. <lb/>
To the Citizens of Pitt and <lb/>
Information has been received in Greenville that an epidemic <lb/>
of smallpox exists in our town, and we are informed that reports <lb/>
are current throughout the county of Pitt and adjoining counties <lb/>
that there cases of this disease in the town of Greenville. <lb/>
These reports are without foundation. <lb/>
There is only one case of smallpox in the town of Greenville, <lb/>
and this one case is of an exceedingly mild type and the party is <lb/>
now practically well and will be discharged in a few days. <lb/>
There were formerly three other cases in the town of Green- <lb/>
ville, two of which were not residents of Greenville, but came here <lb/>
from elsewhere with already develop id before they <lb/>
came here. <lb/>
As mayor of the town of Greenville, I take this method of <lb/>
erroneous reports and to further state that the <lb/>
physicians our town have the thoroughly under con- <lb/>
troll, and no one need have any fear whatever. Greenville is not <lb/>
under quarantine and has no need to every one who desires <lb/>
to do so can come to Greenville with perfect safety as all the re- <lb/>
ports in regard to smallpox in Greenville are erroneous <lb/>
and absolutely without foundation. <lb/>

The Kansas newspapers are happy <lb/>

as new floods, <lb/>
drought, grasshoppers, caterpillars, <lb/>
, had for over a decade prior to <lb/>
1890 the effect of steadily reducing <lb/>

however, says the Richmond News- <lb/>

figures have been continually climb- <lb/>
This is the cause of the felicity <lb/>
of the Kansas papers, but there is <lb/>
one thing that puzzles us, which <lb/>
our contemporaries do not explain. <lb/>
That is why any ons who ever left <lb/>

The Democratic national ticket la <lb/>

The Republicans of California <lb/>
the mistake of nominating <lb/>
one of their presidential electors a <lb/>
federal office-holder. Such a person <lb/>
ineligible as an elector, and if <lb/>
elected will be disqualified. In that <lb/>

The Republican managers in <lb/>
California did not discover their <lb/>
mistake until too late to correct it. <lb/>

gain of one since 1900. In 1802 that <lb/>

years it also elected a <lb/>

California is by no means a hopeless <lb/>
