much to North Carolina's exhibit. <lb />
We have always known that we have <lb />
the best of everything, we <lb />
want other to know it <lb />
Tomorrow the date set for <lb />
holding the the different <lb />
our county, we wish to <lb />
especially emphasize the great <lb />
every democrat doing <lb />
his duty. This is the critical period. <lb />
and every citizen should do his part. <lb />
The name Theodore Roosevelt <lb />
ton Parker Jones was recently given <lb />
to a hopeful in one of our sis- <lb />
reminds us of a question once <lb />
In why Parker will <lb />
New Jersey, Clarence T. <lb />
of that state, gives tome <lb />
reasons.<lb />
distrust of Roosevelt, the <lb />
dinner pails, reduced <lb />
wages, number of unemployed, high <lb />
pi ices for what you eat and <lb />
and besides, the public is tired of <lb />
Republican rings of New Jersey. <lb />
I hey will not elect a Pennsylvania <lb />
Railroad lobbyist Governor. The <lb />
coal trust has taxed me on <lb />
for my hotel, and the beef trust <lb />
on beef. This is fact, and no <lb />
statistics can wipe it out. know <lb />
what ought to be the price of coal <lb />
and so do all the in <lb />
our land. <lb />
A visit to the many shops, factories, <lb />
and mills of our thriving town makes <lb />
one feel like a different man. We <lb />
have recently had the pleasure of <lb />
visiting a number of the leading <lb />
business places of our town, and we <lb />
can truthfully say that we know of <lb />
no town more wide awake, or more <lb />
systematic in business than is <lb />
Greenville. <lb />
Perhaps nothing is more essential <lb />
to business success than is a correct <lb />
system. Realizing this fact, the <lb />
various companies of our town have <lb />
invariably selected as their officials <lb />
men who have executive and <lb />
who are systematic in their work. <lb />
Much of the wonderful <lb />
success of our town is due to the sys- <lb />
manner in which the work <lb />
is done, and in which the business <lb />
is carried on. <lb />
The willing manner in which the <lb />
And Getting Rudy for <lb />
New York, Sept. 0,1904. <lb />
North Carolina has not moved to <lb />
New York, but about twenty editors <lb />
from the Old North State reached <lb />
here this evening to take part in the <lb />
editorial conference and go en the <lb />
trip to and so many being <lb />
here together makes us feel very <lb />
much at home. <lb />
Taking supper in Greenville, fin- <lb />
an after supper smoke in <lb />
Kinston, loafing an hour in Golds- <lb />
and another in Wilson, sleep <lb />
through Richmond, breakfast- <lb />
in Washington and getting din <lb />
in New York, looks like moving <lb />
around through space quite lively, <lb />
but it is only an instance of what <lb />
the present day facilities for travel <lb />
afford. <lb />
The North Carolina editors who <lb />
are here met in Washington and <lb />
came on to Now York in a body. <lb />
Arriving here our mind went back <lb />
to what a Pitt county sheriff once <lb />
said upon visiting the city looks <lb />
court week in New <lb />
Well, a big crowd is nothing <lb />
for it mutt he remembered <lb />
that above people <lb />
around here, beside the <lb />
non-residents who come and go every <lb />
day. <lb />
At this writing I have not learned <lb />
just what the program is for <lb />
row except that the editors from the <lb />
different parts of the country will <lb />
confer as to the best plan to pursue <lb />
in the campaign to secure the <lb />
of Parker and Davis <lb />
day night there will be a banquet at <lb />
the and Thurs- <lb />
day a trip up the Hudson to <lb />
the home of Judge Parker, where <lb />
the editors will be presented to him. <lb />
Mr. Knapp of the St. Louis <lb />
will make a speech for the press- <lb />
men and Judge respond. <lb />
A great deal more is seen up <lb />
way to indicate the activity of the <lb />
national campaign than has yet been <lb />
manifested in the south. Campaign <lb />
banners for both Parker and Davis <lb />
and Roosevelt and Fairbanks are <lb />
seen floating everywhere. <lb />
clubs opened headquarters <lb />
showing that the battle is on in ear- <lb />
nest. It certainly is an inspiration <lb />
to come here and listen to the many <lb />
confident expressions of the certain- <lb />
of the election of Parker and <lb />
vis, and one outcome of the confer- <lb />
of editors will be the spreading <lb />
of this enthusiasm over the country. <lb />

From the course of management <lb />
mapped out by The Howland <lb />

the state is fortunate in having made <lb />

great success. <lb />
A man without convictions who is <lb />

like unto himself, that every man <lb />
has his more some lees. <lb />
Such a man is absolutely <lb />

never found him to be a man who <lb />
fears his duty. He is not the man <lb />
