The Argus is strictly <lb />
the side of the lawyers and is <lb />
giving Judge something to <lb />
answer betide what the lawyers <lb />

the game the judge is badly worst- <lb />

The people do not owe any man <lb />

men who think so. <lb />
When the road is leased an <lb />
might be disposed of by put- <lb />
ting in the hotel, too. <lb />
Running the hotel at loss of <lb />
a year is not a good way to <lb />
help the finances of the road. <lb />
Perhaps the teachers can tell <lb />
something about the hotel after <lb />
their meeting there 8th to 12th <lb />
The voice of the commencement <lb />
orator will tons be hushed until <lb />
next time, and the campaign speak- <lb />
will do duty instead. <lb />
The efforts to unite the Northern <lb />
and Southern branches of the <lb />
church loot like a better <lb />
feeling is permeating the country. <lb />

The North Carolina editors on <lb />
their way home from the World's <lb />

Dr. dean of the de <lb />

much reputation by <lb />
chemical research and <lb />

New York college to take charge of <lb />
its chemistry department. In talk- <lb />
about it the doctor said am <lb />

We do not suppose he had <lb />

way of losing brainy men. <lb />
They are out for the biggest offer, <lb />
and the size of it comes in for more <lb />
consideration than state <lb />
Perhaps you cannot blame them for <lb />
it, but it is a pity for just <lb />
the same. <lb />
Women are peculiar, <lb />
not more than and at times <lb />
lose their dignity so easy. Miss <lb />
Alice Roosevelt arrived at St. <lb />
Thursday. Her coming was known <lb />
people, mostly women, <lb />
were jostling each other around the <lb />
depot to get a glimpse of her. <lb />
Four hundred of them broke by <lb />
the gate keepers and crowded <lb />
the train so that policemen <lb />
found trouble in getting Miss <lb />
Roosevelt and attendants through <lb />
the throng to a carriage. And as <lb />
she passed the women followed fill- <lb />

If a man is for a thing he should <lb />
say so and give his for the <lb />
faith that is in him. If he is against <lb />
it let him say so and give his <lb />
sons for his faith. The world re- <lb />
the man who fights for what <lb />
he thinks is right, but it hates the <lb />
fellow who is too cowardly to stand <lb />
by his convictions. Sink or swim, <lb />
live or die, stand by what is right <lb />
and push it along, let it be water <lb />
works, electric lights, the Watts law <lb />
or any other measure calculated to <lb />
help the community and benefit <lb />
mankind. God fights on the side <lb />
of the good and the brave. No man <lb />

on the Supreme Court Bench of <lb />
North Carolina at the next State <lb />
election. For these honored posit- <lb />
ions Judges George H. Brown and <lb />
William A. Hoke have been men- <lb />
with others. The people of <lb />
North Carolina could not select two <lb />
better men than the two mentioned. <lb />
Both of them are lawyers, of <lb />
clean character, of patriotic impulses <lb />
of proud lineage. Judge Hoke is <lb />
now riding this circuit as a circuit <lb />
Judge. He has presided here <lb />
times before, and in the and <lb />
among the people there is no dissent <lb />
from the opinion that he is an able, <lb />
fair, impartial and just judge; of <lb />
great personal dignity, courtesy and <lb />
kindness off and on the bench. <lb />
There is much in blood of men, and <lb />
the blood of the Hokes runs through <lb />
patriots and statesmen beyond <lb />
memory. <lb />
