The Oklahoma country has <lb/>

South Canadian is the <lb/>

is one of the most treacherous <lb/>
rivers in this whole Its <lb/>
bed is the water <lb/>
either comes down in rolling billows <lb/>
or the river bed is dry. Sometimes <lb/>
one may start across and before <lb/>
he has reached the opposite <lb/>
where but a few moments before was <lb/>
dry the threatening whirls <lb/>
will be ready to engulf him. Then <lb/>
are no bridges in this country, con- <lb/>
the streams have to be <lb/>

The roads here are said to be <lb/>
very good roads, but to me, <lb/>
accustomed to the smooth roads of <lb/>
Eastern Carolina, they are a terror. <lb/>
Two weeks ago I spent several days <lb/>
at the home of a <lb/>

some of the good roads and as <lb/>
