Gov. Aycock Pardon Granting. <lb />
Aycock discussed with <lb />
a Post writer yesterday the matter <lb />
of criticisms by the people of any <lb />
of the pardons he has in the past <lb />
or will in the future grant, the <lb />
discussion being brought up <lb />
by the criticisms about <lb />
on the pardon he granted <lb />
one Tom who was serving <lb />
a term for assaulting a 13-year old <lb />
girl with stick. <lb />
He said that the facts in this <lb />
case were that he received sworn <lb />
statements from the girl and her <lb />
mother the blow inflicted by <lb />
Rouse was purely accidental, <lb />
urging the governor to grant the <lb />
pardon. The statement was made <lb />
by the mother that the girl would <lb />
gone on the stand and <lb />
to this effect had it not <lb />
that she was sick at the time of <lb />
the trial and could not go to the <lb />
court house <lb />
Speaking of pardons in general <lb />
the Governor said that he wants <lb />
it distinctly understood that the <lb />
reason he all <lb />
for pardons to be advertised by <lb />
posters at seat and in <lb />
some county paper where the <lb />
for the pardon was convict- <lb />
ed, is order that any who object <lb />
to such a pardon may come forward <lb />
and state their objection. When <lb />
an application has been duly ad- <lb />
every one considered <lb />
by the governor is necessarily so <lb />
advertised;, no objections are <lb />
filed, the Governor takes <lb />
it for granted that there is no ob- <lb />
in the county to the grant- <lb />
of a <lb />
Post. <lb />

It is true also the <lb />
