WASHINGTON-. l. C. <lb />
From chance ks dropped <lb />
in hotel lobbies and government <lb />

that Republican leaders, <lb />
that is the party work- <lb />

that they have the <lb />

politicians who considered that <lb />
party fealty should receive its re <lb />

When Mr. Roosevelt became <lb />
governor of the State of Sew York. <lb />
he found himself so seriously <lb />
gated to the politicians that it was <lb />
impossible to disregard their ad- <lb />
vice and their claims. <lb />
less in his attitude towards the <lb />
great corporations, in his efforts <lb />
to effect civil service reform <lb />
and in his defeating the scheme for <lb />
the New York police force <lb />
the tool of the Republican <lb />
