As I think the line of co-operation <lb />
suggested by me in my last article <lb />
to you is really important to the well <lb />
being of our county, I desire to ex- <lb />
plain it more fully <lb />
Those who live in, say, Smithtown <lb />
might devote their energies to <lb />
Poland China hogs and <lb />
Island Red chickens. Those upon <lb />
the New Road might busy <lb />
with hogs and Leg- <lb />
horn chickens. <lb />
The people of and vicinity <lb />
might fancy Jersey hogs, <lb />
Angus cattle and black <lb />
chickens. <lb />
Would Help Pitt County <lb />
J. J. <lb />
might devote her en- <lb />
to raising, Berkshire hogs <lb />
Jersey cattle and Barred <lb />
Rock chickens and a few bronze <lb />
keys. <lb />
Up in Lewiston, Holstein cattle, <lb />
Yorkshire hogs, white <lb />
chickens and ducks might com- <lb />
mend themselves to their energetic <lb />
people. <lb />
Over the creek might prefer native <lb />
hogs, scrub cattle, a variety of chick- <lb />
ens and geese. <lb />
Each community might strive to <lb />
out-do the others, and at the county <lb />
fair put some choice animals and <lb />
fowls upon exhibition. not the <lb />
rivalry be more intense and the en- <lb />
of the visitors and the ex- <lb />
be keener and more uplift- <lb />
Don't you know if these people <lb />
could be induced to do as I have <lb />
suggested that we would soon have <lb />
one of the best county fairs in the <lb />
state, and that buyers of good stock <lb />
would be on hand to secure our best <lb />
specimens at fancy prices <lb />
Besides the community spirit, <lb />
would be developed pride in one's <lb />
surroundings would grow. The boys <lb />
and girls would take an interest in <lb />
the farm, in the school, in the church, <lb />
and I assure you that things would <lb />
move and move in the proper <lb />
I am exceedingly anxious for <lb />
county to take the lead in some good <lb />
thing, and that is why I am such an <lb />
advocate of the corn clubs and <lb />
why I wish at least eleven of them <lb />
be furnished a free trip to Wash- <lb />
City for honest endeavor. <lb />
I realize this Idea die <lb />
unless some assistance is rendered. <lb />
Will not some one who <lb />
in it please write an article <lb />
commending it if there is such <lb />
a one, please come to my rescue. <lb />
I would be pleased to have some <lb />
wise patriotic lady write a short <lb />
piece along the same line, <lb />

President Had of Yale has been <lb />
selected to deliver the lectures on <lb />
the foundation next year. A <lb />
very high standard has been set for <lb />
these lectures by the men who have <lb />
hitherto given them, and in this <lb />
of the next lecturer the <lb />
of the foundation evidently in- <lb />
tend that the high standard shall be <lb />
maintained. President Hadley was <lb />
head of the scientific department of <lb />
Yale before he became Yale's pres- <lb />

with Dr. who delivered the <lb />

to come to Chapel Hill next week and <lb />

by many of his close friends <lb />

though merited offer, in his work <lb />

with great regret his present <lb />

Big Cotton Crop Needed. <lb />
New Orleans Picayune says that <lb />
although the last cotton crop was <lb />
proximately bales, it has <lb />
utterly failed to provide the supplies <lb />
which the world's mills have required <lb />
except at prices which have made it <lb />
impossible for many of the mills, par- <lb />
those in the United <lb />
to operate at a profit. <lb />
The short crops of recent years <lb />
have not been the result of concerted <lb />
curtailment of acreage. Unfavorable <lb />
weather and the boll weevil have <lb />
been mainly responsible for the short <lb />
It is certain that farmers are <lb />
determined to plant n large acreage <lb />
this spring, and nothing on their part <lb />
will be done to stand in t lie of a <lb />
large yield. <lb />

FOR COUNTY <lb />
IS GOING TO LEAD THE STATE <lb />
THIS YEAR <lb />
FOR A COUNTY FAIR <lb />
Valuable Prises for the Corn <lb />
Contest Names of the Different <lb />
Committees Meeting Called Leek <lb />
lag to fer a County <lb />
Fair. <lb />
At the request of the county <lb />
of the corn contest in <lb />
Pitt county, for the township com- <lb />
and prize committee to meet <lb />
wit ii them on the 14th to further <lb />
range for the contest this year, the <lb />
meeting was held in the city hall <lb />
Friday with a good number present <lb />
Prof. W. H. reported that <lb />
he already had the names of about <lb />
forty boys who have entered the con- <lb />
with others expected, and at his <lb />
suggestion the time for boys to re- <lb />
port their names was extended from <lb />
April to April 22nd. So the <lb />
boys will have one week longer in <lb />
which to send him their names, but <lb />
they should do so not later than the <lb />
22nd. <lb />
The prize list for this year's con- <lb />
test will be the most valuable any <lb />
county in the state has ever offered, <lb />
and should bring in a large number <lb />
of contestants. There will be free <lb />
trips to Washington City, with nil <lb />
expenses for eleven boys, <lb />
from each township, and also second, <lb />
third and fourth prizes for each <lb />
township, these to be in cash and <lb />
valuable articles. <lb />
The Washington City trip is to be <lb />
awarded to the boy in each township <lb />
who raises the most corn on his acre, <lb />
but to get the trip he must show a <lb />
yield of not less than bushels. The <lb />
other three prizes in each township <lb />
will go to the boys making the next <lb />
three highest yields, the value of <lb />
these prizes to be determined by the <lb />
prize committee after all the prize <lb />
donations are reported. <lb />
In addition to the above township <lb />
prizes the Union will give <lb />
in cash to the boy who shows <lb />
the largest yield in the entire county. <lb />
The boy who wins this cash prize can <lb />
also win a trip to Washington, but <lb />
in no other instance can one boy be <lb />
awarded two prizes. <lb />
D. J. Whichard was appointed to be <lb />
treasurer of the prize fund, and per- <lb />
sons wishing to make donations to <lb />
the prize list can send them to him <lb />
or either of the township committees <lb />
named below. It is one the duties <lb />
of these committees to solicit do- <lb />
nations in their respective township. <lb />
These committees are also to look <lb />
after the boys in their township who <lb />

Movement For County Fair. <lb />
After discussing the details of the <lb />
boys corn contest, the suggestion <lb />
was made of having a county fair <lb />
one or two days next fall, when not <lb />
only the boys will exhibit the best <lb />
ten ears of their corn crop, but that <lb />
the farmers also exhibit specimens <lb />
Of their crops, live stock, poultry, <lb />
dairy products, etc. It was deemed <lb />
advisable to better carry out this <lb />
idea to name representatives of the <lb />
several townships and ask them to <lb />
meet on a certain day with the corn <lb />
contest committees to discuss the mat- <lb />
fully and formulate plans for or- <lb />
a county fair association <lb />

Friday, April 28th, at o'clock <lb />
a. m., in the city hall in Greenville, <lb />
was selected as the time and place <lb />
for holding this meeting. All the <lb />
gentlemen named in the foregoing <lb />
in the corn contest committees <lb />
and county fair committee, as well <lb />
as other citizens of the county who <lb />
are interested in holding a county <lb />
fair, are asked to attend that meeting <lb />
If all will work together, there is <lb />
no reason why both the corn <lb />
contest and the proposed county fair <lb />
cannot be made a great success. <lb />
IN THE GAME. <lb />
That Town Will Hare a Good <lb />
Team. <lb />
Grifton, N. C, April <lb />
has its base ball park completed and <lb />
is ready for business. The citizens <lb />
of the town are enthusiastic over the <lb />
coming season and are giving the <lb />
players good support financially. <lb />
The candidates for the team have <lb />
been practicing regularly a short <lb />
time. There is not a sufficient <lb />
of experienced players in the <lb />
town to form a team, and several <lb />
members will have to be chosen <lb />
from boys who have never played ball <lb />
Indications are that we will have a <lb />
pretty strong batting team. Several <lb />
of our players are liable to hit for <lb />
extra bases any time. It is not ex- <lb />
that the team will burn up <lb />
diamonds in fielding, but our players <lb />
are going to hit the ball. In Bland <lb />
and Webb, Grifton has two <lb />
good pitchers, and <lb />
behind the bat is an experienced <lb />
catcher. We will have good battery <lb />
work. <lb />
At a meeting of the fans recently, <lb />
George was elected manager- <lb />
captain and R. C. <lb />
Grifton will live strictly up the <lb />
principle of home boys and no <lb />

going to have trouble beating us. We <lb />

A few nights ago some <lb />
were engaged in a crap game in the <lb />
shanty near the end of the <lb />
river bridge that was once used as <lb />
a market. Another named <lb />
Price was on his way home from <lb />
town, and when about opposite the <lb />
shanty, Fred Dixon, one of the crap <lb />
shooters, opened fire on him with a <lb />
pistol, striking him in the arm. <lb />
Price's outcry disclosed his <lb />
when Dixon went to him and <lb />
for the shooting, saying he <lb />
thought he was shooting the sheriff <lb />
as they were there waiting for him <lb />
to go by. <lb />

II Kings <lb />
the people rejoiced, for they offered <lb />
SIXTEEN years passed after the <lb />
of our previous study <lb />
and King in his <lb />
twenty-third year. Already he <lb />
bad made suggestions to the priests <lb />
respecting the repairs of the <lb />
which was considerably dilapidated, <lb />
be the people were still half- <lb />
hearted la the worship of Jehovah. <lb />
The Influence of the idolatry of <lb />
rounding nations was still upon them. <lb />
Some of them still burned incense <lb />
upon the altars of Baal. <lb />
Priests Poor Business Men <lb />
King found that allowing <lb />
priests to collect the money and there- <lb />
with to the temple showed no <lb />
results. Not every good-hearted man <lb />
has e x e c u t <lb />
ability. The rec- <lb />
does not tell <lb />
that the priests <lb />
were dishonest in <lb />
the use of the <lb />
money collected <lb />
for their affairs. <lb />
Nor does it say <lb />
that they spent <lb />
the money <lb />
wisely. Possibly <lb />
the people did <lb />
not have <lb />
in the priests and did not give <lb />
so freely on that account. However, <lb />
the King noted the fact that the <lb />

Church Begging Doing Harm. <lb />
There is a lesson In this matter for <lb />
us. The people like to see results. <lb />
They want to know that monies <lb />
that are donated for benevolent <lb />
poses are not all absorbed for office <lb />
expenses. Voluntary offerings have <lb />
the approval of both God and men, <lb />
rather than offerings that are <lb />
tuned, coaxed, begged, wheedled from <lb />
saints sinners. Everybody who <lb />
gives to the Lord's cause is <lb />
thereby; ho not only forwards a <lb />
benevolent Cause, but stimulates and <lb />
cultivates generosity in his own heart. <lb />
It was our Lord who said, is more <lb />
blessed to give than to <lb />
where the giving is willing and <lb />
Church begging is undoubtedly do- <lb />
great harm. The remark has <lb />
made that the chief item of religion In <lb />
some churches Is begging for money- <lb />
private solicitation, and also public <lb />
solicitation, by the passing around of <lb />
the collection box. Church fairs, <lb />
church suppers, grab-bags. etc. etc. <lb />
are still more reprehensible than the <lb />
collection box and private solicitation. <lb />
Some one has called such efforts the <lb />

It is from the spiritual standpoint, <lb />
therefore, that the temple of today <lb />
needs to have repairs. Outwardly, the <lb />
Church Is rich; spiritually, she is poor. <lb />
The majority of her educated, <lb />

Grimesland, N. C, April <lb />

of our Sunday school rendered <lb />
a beautiful program in an Easter can- <lb />
Easter It is safe <lb />
to say that the work of our Sunday <lb />
school as exemplified in the <lb />
cantata service last night, cannot <lb />
be excelled anywhere. <lb />
Grimesland is full of consecrated <lb />
women, who are known by their <lb />
works, and their sacrifice of time and <lb />
service, in everything tending to a <lb />
moral and religious uplift of our <lb />
is duly appreciated. <lb />
Grimesland took a forward step <lb />
last Friday. Our special school tax <lb />
election held on that day was carried <lb />
by an overwhelming majority in favor <lb />
of the tax. Out of a total vote of <lb />
sixty, only two votes were cast against <lb />
it. We had opposition from power- <lb />
sources, but it melted away, and <lb />
the vote came very near being <lb />
Several ladies from this place went <lb />
to Washington Friday to purchase <lb />
spring hats and incidentally took in <lb />
the carnival there last week. <lb />
Misses Earl and Susie Proctor <lb />
came home Friday evening from Car- <lb />
Christian College, where they <lb />
arc attending school, to spend Easter. <lb />
We are always pleased to see these <lb />
clever little ladies come home. Their <lb />
advancement and development speaks <lb />
well for C. C. College and it is both <lb />
an inspiration and a pleasure to <lb />
have them in our midst. <lb />

Hi at the post office at <lb />
North Carolina, trade; <lb />
act of March <lb />
FRIDAY APRIL <lb />
THE KEN WHO COUNT. <lb />
Often the man who is worth much <lb />
in dollars is not worth a cent to the <lb />
community in which he lives, and just <lb />
as frequently the fellow who is not <lb />
worth a penny, outside of his salary, <lb />
which be has to hand out soon after <lb />
his pay envelope is passed over to <lb />
him, is worth much to the community <lb />
in actual work and in enthusiasm. <lb />
there ace many of the latter class, <lb />
however, who arc absolutely worth- <lb />
less, besides they are <lb />
and discontented. In other words, <lb />
they have a grouch. So this <lb />
of man, is a drawback to the com- <lb />
in which he lives and he <lb />
should either get out of the shadows, <lb />
or get out of the town. No man should <lb />
want to live in a town which he <lb />
care a rap for, which he <lb />
thinks is no good, and certainly the <lb />
town would be better off without him. <lb />
as damaging as this type, the man <lb />
who has money and poses before <lb />
people as a successful man of affairs <lb />
and yet is so stingy as not to help <lb />
build up his town is not much better. <lb />
There are lots of folks in every town <lb />
who have money, but never move save <lb />
to clip coupons and they always de- <lb />
to shout, or have shout <lb />
about their greatness. Such kind may <lb />
be enjoying himself and be happy <lb />
the influence of ignorance <lb />
is bliss, but the people at large <lb />
are not paying him tribute, and his <lb />
supposed friends, who go in that dis- <lb />
guise by reason of his money, are <lb />
thinking, deep down In their hearts, <lb />
what a travesty he is on success and <lb />
a skinflint he is as a <lb />
The man who has money and yet does <lb />
not help build up his town is a <lb />
mighty poor sort of man. Give <lb />
to a the poor man who is <lb />
any day, because in time he <lb />
perhaps, accumulate money and <lb />
when he docs he will benefit his com- <lb />
in a financial way. The rich <lb />
man who Invest his money In <lb />
manufacturing en I; or who is <lb />
willing loco a few thousand <lb />
probability he wouldn't <lb />
feel on public project <lb />
hi man . count; for com <lb />
mun. and who will appreciated. <lb />
be bi . <lb />
bluff. <lb />
Greenville has no sore toe <lb />
the last census returns giving the <lb />
town population. It is really <lb />
just a little bit better than The Re- <lb />
expected, our estimate <lb />
being that there were approximately <lb />
people in the incorporated <lb />
the town and in the sub- <lb />
making a total of about <lb />
The census returns giving us <lb />
more than estimated shows that <lb />
our figures had not been placed too <lb />
high, and Greenville is really a <lb />
town as claimed. That sounds good. <lb />
It is an increase of 1,536, or per <lb />
cent, over the population of 1900 <lb />
when the returns gave us If <lb />
this, rate of increase continues <lb />
through the next decade, as it doubt- <lb />
less will, the census of 1920 will find <lb />
Greenville crow-ding the class <lb />
The Reflector has no patience with <lb />
cotton contracts, that is selling cot- <lb />
ton for future delivery, and thinks <lb />
it is wrong for men to thus deal. <lb />
But when men enter into such con- <lb />
tracts they should be made to live <lb />
up to them. Because the price of <lb />
cotton goes contrary to what the <lb />
seller expected it to do, is no reason <lb />
for his violating his contract. It <lb />
is wrong to enter into such a con- <lb />
tract in the first place, but more <lb />
wrong to try to violate it after it is <lb />
made. It strikes a blow at the <lb />
foundation of business confidence for <lb />
men not to live up to their obligations <lb />
afforded by the water powers <lb />
of the state, and the development of <lb />
these for generating electric power, <lb />
means that at no far distant day <lb />
every section of the state will be <lb />
reached and supplied with cheap <lb />
power for all electric uses. <lb />
A mistake was made in registering <lb />
for the primary in. Raleigh <lb />
because they professed to be Demo- <lb />
It is as much a violation of <lb />
the constitutional amendment to reg- <lb />
Democratic as it is Re- <lb />
publican It is unusual, <lb />
however, for things to be done in <lb />
Raleigh that ought not to be done. <lb />
Talk about going forward some, <lb />
here is one that is a step over any- <lb />
thing on this side of the pond. In <lb />
London they have automobile horns <lb />
that play tunes. No more of the <lb />
if you please, but a <lb />
snatch of rag time or some popular <lb />
air to charm those being passed on <lb />
the road. <lb />
Inasmuch as his brother, Governor <lb />
Kitchin, is a candidate for the United <lb />
States senate against Senator F. M. <lb />
Simmons, it would have sounded <lb />
better if Congressman Claude <lb />
speech in congress Saturday had <lb />
been less drastic on Senator Sim- <lb />
position on reciprocity. There <lb />
are many people disagreeing with <lb />
Senator Simmons who will <lb />
less think some of the congressman's <lb />
utterances were for effect on the <lb />
senatorial contest. <lb />
On Saturday in congress Hon. <lb />
Claude Kitchin, member from the <lb />
second North Carolina district, made <lb />
the first speech in the debate on the <lb />
question of reciprocity with Canada. <lb />
He spoke for three hours and his <lb />
speech was regarded as one of the <lb />
ablest delivered in congress in a <lb />
of a century, being so pronounced <lb />
by the old members and by the As- <lb />
Press. It was a great credit <lb />
to the talented North Carolina con- <lb />
The tide of progress seems to be <lb />
in earnest in North Carolina. <lb />
may well enjoy his own conceit, Capitalists are realizing the <lb />
In another letter Mr. A. J. <lb />
again calls attention to the matter of <lb />
community spirit or co-operation <lb />
among farmers. It is really one of <lb />
the most practical suggestions that <lb />
has been made to the farmers of the <lb />
county, and they could benefit them- <lb />
selves greatly by adopting it. <lb />
Pitt is one of the best agricultural <lb />
counties in the world, and there is <lb />
no reason why the county cannot make <lb />
a creditable of her products. <lb />
A meeting is to be held here on Fri- <lb />
day, April 28th, looking to that end <lb />
Every one interested should attend <lb />
that meeting. <lb />
The owners of the shirt waist <lb />
in New York in which so many <lb />
girls recently lost their lives, have <lb />
been indicted for manslaughter. Money <lb />
will help them escape punishment, <lb />
except the expense of standing trial <lb />
and lawyers for defense. <lb />
Another summer is nearly here <lb />
without Greenville getting interested <lb />
in having a pavilion, bath houses and <lb />
a pleasure resort on the river front. <lb />
The river would afford much <lb />
if it was taken advantage of. <lb />
Some papers that use such big <lb />
head lines as to make their news <lb />
pages look like fire sale hand <lb />
might look at the Statesville Land- <lb />
mark as a model of neatness when <lb />
it comes to news headings. <lb />
The Reflector acknowledges an In- <lb />
to the ceremonies attending <lb />
the unveiling of the statue of Hon. <lb />
George Davis by the Cape Fear Chap- <lb />
North Carolina Division, U. C, <lb />
in Wilmington on Thursday, April <lb />
20th. <lb />
The more business you do with <lb />
The Reflector, the more you help <lb />
lug more business to the town for <lb />
you to get the benefit of. So it <lb />
works to mutual advantage all around <lb />
The Charlotte Observer wanted to <lb />
know how it was with eight news- <lb />
papers in Robeson county, they ever <lb />
manage to keep the peace, and the <lb />
Maxton Scottish Chief explains that <lb />
it is whipping the fellow who <lb />
drops in to break With this <lb />
warning the Observer should try to <lb />
be good. <lb />
If the issuing of bonds to build good <lb />
roads in Greenville township is car- <lb />
in the election, you will pay no <lb />
more road tax than at present and <lb />
will have good roads. If the bonds <lb />
are defeated you just as <lb />
much tax but have no good roads. <lb />
For a time it looked like the matter <lb />
of issuing bonds to erect a graded <lb />
school building in Ayden would be <lb />
defeated In the election, but the re- <lb />
shows that the people of that <lb />
town have enterprise of the right <lb />
kind. <lb />
If they carry the investigation fur- <lb />
there will no doubt be found <lb />
many others hanging on to salaries <lb />
for doing nothing, who could be <lb />
prized off with great benefit to the <lb />
government. <lb />
The Anderson, S. C, Mail says <lb />
that Josephus Daniels, of the Raleigh <lb />
News and Observer, his paper <lb />
from a jail cell for about a month's <lb />
Now, Josephus, is your <lb />
chance to go for the <lb />
If those park strips between the <lb />
concrete pavements and curb line <lb />
were sown in grass now, they would <lb />
be pretty spots a little later Cannot <lb />
the property owners or somebody get <lb />
interested in beautifying these strips <lb />
---------o <lb />
Some of these days yon are going <lb />
to hear bigger things about Green- <lb />
ville than you have ever heard yet <lb />
The town is getting close to the <lb />
point of making more big strides for- <lb />
ward. <lb />
With work in progress on the new <lb />
court house and jail, two new office <lb />
buildings, a ball park and several <lb />
residences, it looks like is <lb />
doing in Greenville. <lb />
The outlook for a county fair next <lb />
tall for Pitt county is good . It <lb />
only needs the people to make up <lb />
their minds in that direction for the <lb />
movement to be a success. <lb />
Mr. Bryan is keeping his eye on it <lb />
just the same, and if he does not <lb />
try for it himself he is going to sea <lb />
how it goes. <lb />
The Wilmington Star says there is <lb />
remedy for fish bite. Wonder if it <lb />
The Reflector do business in the same as use for <lb />
The annual meeting of the stock- <lb />
holders of the Consolidated <lb />
Tobacco Company, held here Tues- <lb />
day, and the showing made in the <lb />
report of the company's business for <lb />
the past year, gives abundant cause <lb />
to reiterate opinions heretofore ex- <lb />
pressed concerning this organization <lb />
of farmers. That they are doing a <lb />
great work is evidenced in results. <lb />
Organized as they are on business <lb />
principles, and carrying on their <lb />
operations in a business like way <lb />
in their own interests, success was <lb />
sure to come with proper <lb />
and that is what has come out <lb />
of success that should make <lb />
every one interested in it proud of <lb />
the organization. <lb />
Readers of The Reflector are aware <lb />
of its faith in the <lb />
dated Tobacco Company. Because of <lb />
faith in the men who promoted it, <lb />
and a belief that the principles of the <lb />
organization were right and intend- <lb />
ed to advance the interests of the <lb />
farmers who raise tobacco, we have <lb />
not hesitated as occasion called for <lb />
to commend it, and to advise the <lb />
farmers to give the organizations their <lb />
co-operation. In the face of hard, <lb />
bitter and malicious opposition, <lb />
the company has pursued the even <lb />
tenor of its way, proving by its work <lb />
that it was entitled to <lb />
until today it stands upon the <lb />
pinnacle of success, the institution <lb />
that is recognized as having done <lb />
more for the tobacco farmers of <lb />
Eastern North Carolina than any <lb />
organization ever undertaken. <lb />
In the eight years the company <lb />
been in operation it has saved the <lb />
farmers thousands of dollars in <lb />
them to get better prices for <lb />
their tobacco than they otherwise <lb />
would have obtained, and in addition <lb />
to this it has paid the stockholders <lb />
dividends amounting to per cent <lb />
besides constantly enlarging its <lb />
and improving the value of its <lb />
property holdings. <lb />
The report of the secretary at this <lb />
annual meeting showed the property <lb />
holdings of the company worth <lb />
741.56, with a stock issue of <lb />
and an Indebtedness of <lb />
its property worth nearly <lb />
more than its entire stock issue and <lb />
indebtedness combined. Few <lb />
anywhere can make a better <lb />
showing than this. <lb />
The net earnings of the company <lb />
the past year was 1-2 per cent, and <lb />
in the face of the that the <lb />
tobacco crop last year was the poor- <lb />
est ever raised in Eastern North <lb />
Carolina and was pounds <lb />
short of the previous year. Of this <lb />
earning per cent in cash was paid <lb />
to the stockholders, and the balance <lb />
carried to the surplus. <lb />
The company has a hoard of <lb />
tors composed of business farmers, <lb />
men who have made a <lb />
their individual business and In <lb />
whom every one has the utmost con- <lb />

Marshall Cox, C. D. Smith, R. J. Cobb. <lb />

A. A. Forbes and T. R. Hodges. <lb />
These directors showed wisdom in <lb />
re-electing Mr. O. L. Joyner, pres- <lb />
of the company. While each <lb />
of the company is faithful to <lb />
every T. R. Hodges as vice <lb />
president, Mr. R. J. Cobb as treasurer <lb />
Mr. Jr., as secretary and <lb />
Mr. B. B. Sugg as <lb />
the president loyal support in <lb />
managing its large business, Mr. Joy- <lb />
as the executive head has proven <lb />
himself a man of ability and sterling <lb />
qualities, and worthy of all <lb />
The company is fortunate in <lb />
having such men to manage its <lb />
fairs, and that its business should <lb />
meet with the highest success is what <lb />
t be expected. <lb />

Sheriff S. I. Dudley was <lb />

the homo of Allen Tyson, colored, to <lb />
collect his taxes due for last year. <lb />
The colored man told the sheriff his <lb />
taxes were already paid and that he <lb />
the receipt. He went in his <lb />
house and got a receipt, but it was <lb />
for the year 1909. The sheriff ex- <lb />
plain to him that the receipt he had <lb />
was for but that his taxes for <lb />
1910 were not paid and must be <lb />
paid. , <lb />
At this the colored man became <lb />
very insolent and cursed the sheriff. <lb />
Air. Dudley told the it was use- <lb />
less to go on that way about it, that <lb />
the taxes must be paid or he would <lb />
have to levy on enough of his house- <lb />
hold effects to cover what was due. <lb />

The Meetings Every Sunday Are Well <lb />
Worth While. <lb />
That the men of Greenville, at <lb />
least a large number of them, are <lb />
rightly using their talents is shown <lb />
by the attendance and interest in th <lb />
Men's Prayer League that meets every <lb />
Sunday afternoon, and the good work <lb />
the league is doing. It is not merely <lb />
a gathering to pass away time, but <lb />
the hour is spent profitably and all <lb />
who attend are helped. <lb />
The subject discussed in the <lb />
church Sunday afternoon was <lb />
Our and the lead- <lb />
Messrs W. M. Pugh and E. A. <lb />
made talks that left a deep <lb />
impression for good. They showed <lb />
how all should rightly use the talent <lb />
God has given to His glory and to <lb />
helping our fellow man, the great- <lb />
est reward coming through our <lb />
vice to others. <lb />
Some others of the members also <lb />
made short talks, the suggestion be- <lb />
brought out that the league in- <lb />
itself in the establishment of <lb />
a Y. M. C. A. or some similar organ- <lb />
for the benefit of the men and <lb />
boys of the community. This is to <lb />
come up for consideration later. <lb />
The meeting next Sunday will be <lb />
in the Presbyterian church. That <lb />
day being Easter Sunday the sub- <lb />
will be Risen Text, <lb />

Rev. Dr. Herman H. pastor <lb />
of the First Baptist church, Charlotte, <lb />
preached a sermon Sunday night on <lb />
-The Election, The <lb />
was frank clear and being so, <lb />
was regarded as not a little <lb />
the use of liquor and money <lb />
for the purchase of votes in the re- <lb />
cent city primaries being discussed <lb />
with off. The subject had been <lb />
announced beforehand and <lb />
church was crowded to and beyond <lb />

which men and rotors predominated, <lb />
says the Evening . <lb />
. Dr. remarks so i i <lb />
the existing at the last <lb />
election hold In Greenville and P <lb />
county, we reprint the following re- <lb />
port of his sermon taken from the <lb />
above-named <lb />
since the announcement I <lb />
would speak tonight on the subject, <lb />
Election said Dr. <lb />
in beginning, has been <lb />
not a little comment, both pro and <lb />
con, but I feel sure that after I have <lb />
finished this address on this some- <lb />
what politico-social subject you will <lb />
agree that I have not departed from <lb />
my rightful sphere. And hence it <lb />
there are any of those present who <lb />
would abridge my liberty, or in other <lb />
words, shut my mouth, it is evident <lb />
that you do not apprehend the null <lb />
sphere of a minister's influence. <lb />
shall not permit this church or any- <lb />
church to place me In a separate <lb />
class from other men. I am a <lb />
as you are a citizen. I am a man <lb />
as you are a man, enjoying the <lb />
session of the ballot just as do you <lb />
and I have a right to do whatever you <lb />
have the right to do. Why, then, <lb />
nil twaddling talk about minis- <lb />
seeming intrusion into public <lb />
fairs if he is only seeking to apply <lb />
moral standards to the conduct of <lb />
our political institutions. <lb />
are all one great <lb />
he affected by the same <lb />
influences, nominated by the same <lb />
passions, and God has seen fit to en- <lb />
us with the same faculties and <lb />
we are obedient to the same laws. <lb />
Hence our religion is justly as truly <lb />
social in its character as it Is spiritual <lb />
And you, brother, have no right to <lb />
draw your skirts about you and re- <lb />
main in aloofness from the things of <lb />
public life because there may be some <lb />
thing about them which is repugnant <lb />
to your nature. You must make your <lb />
life one great contribution to every <lb />
life with which it comes in contact <lb />
and enlarge the waves of your in- <lb />
until they encompass the <lb />
men, women and children of your <lb />
city I shall say tonight <lb />
-and I hope to speak hot from the <lb />
not to be constructed an <lb />
espousal of the cause of any man <lb />
is not to be taken as a cause <lb />
offense by any one. I have no yet <lb />
so far lost sight of the dignity of the <lb />
pulpit as to use it for indulgence in <lb />
personalities. My lecture tonight is <lb />
not a man's performance. It s a <lb />
message from <lb />
Dr. explained how in this <lb />
form of government it has been <lb />
ranged that the will of the people <lb />
shall be expressed by the ballot and <lb />
that expression shall take from in an <lb />
administration clothed with <lb />
and surrounded by dignity. <lb />
The ballot is the startling point. <lb />
No other part of the government can <lb />
so ill afford to be corrupt. The <lb />
courts may be corrupt, and have <lb />
been, the legislature may be corrupt, <lb />
and they have been, but the power <lb />
of the people's ballot has eventually <lb />
corrected those evils. But when <lb />
strike at the ballot Itself, you <lb />
have a case of heart disease on hand. <lb />
Here is where the mighty propulsive <lb />
power of our government is props- <lb />
gated No other part of our govern- <lb />
is so vital and yet so full of <lb />
death when tampered with. <lb />
Hut, ask me, has all this <lb />
to do with our recent municipal <lb />

The preacher <lb />
Tuesday afternoon about o clock <lb />
had occasion lo pass through one <lb />
of the polling Places. I was not on <lb />
my way to vote, because I was out <lb />
the city when registration was in <lb />
progress. I was on my way to visit <lb />
a man who Is ill with typhoid fever. <lb />
I approached, I about it a <lb />
motley crowd. Bf whose authority, <lb />
or by whose permission, are profane <lb />
and drunken men allowed to <lb />
gate in front of the polling places <lb />

At this point the speaker digressed <lb />
for a moment to quote a conversation <lb />
with a deacon of his church who <lb />
told him of his strenuous though <lb />
good-natured clash of effort with a <lb />
man of the rival m en- <lb />
to convert to his own side <lb />
n voter, whom he boasted of having <lb />
landed. voted my The <lb />
speaker declared that the deacon had <lb />
violated the principle <lb />
that man's manhood when he took <lb />
I by the arm and told him for <lb />
whom he should cast his vote. <lb />
when any man attempts in like man- <lb />
v to inform me for whom and for <lb />
what I shall cast my ballot, I tell you <lb />
I have flung an insult into my face. <lb />
My ballot is the expression of my <lb />
mind-Hie. My ballot is the <lb />
of my heart-life. My ballot is <lb />
the expression of my soul-life, and <lb />
being such it is a sacred thing to me <lb />
The deacon had violated the <lb />
of his own manhood when he <lb />
spent two hours the midst of that <lb />
motley crowd of drunken He <lb />
told of one brave minister who went <lb />
to the place to vote, but so rank was <lb />
the profanity and so rank the drunk- <lb />
that he turned around, walked <lb />
out and did not vote at all. <lb />
-But I walked on into the crowd. <lb />
I saw a man standing there. And <lb />
when I saw him reel I could feel my <lb />
heartstrings snap. Men, it was a <lb />
member of my congregation. With <lb />
these hands I had baptized him. I <lb />
had knelt by the side of his wife and <lb />
prayed for him and I had kept him <lb />
straight for months, but when the <lb />
election came some of you men pour- <lb />
liquor into him, debauched <lb />
him and broke the heart of his <lb />
given you the religion. Now <lb />
for the said the speaker. He <lb />
had read the North Carolina statute <lb />
providing that any person who sells <lb />
or gives another liquor within five <lb />
miles of a polling place within twelve <lb />
hours of an election, municipal, state <lb />
or national, shall be fined not less <lb />
than nor more than <lb />
Is there any man here who will <lb />
say that whiskey was not used for <lb />

of you made ward speeches like <lb />
that a man in whose word have <lb />

word for it, when you have arrayed <lb />
the masses against the classes, you <lb />
will be face to face with a frightful <lb />
condition. Milwaukee is just paying <lb />

The minister read the law making <lb />
the selling or buying of a vote a <lb />
misdemeanor. <lb />
any votes sold at the recent, <lb />
election You answer, Then <lb />
the grand jury ought to grind. Any <lb />
man who bought a vote by a drink <lb />
of whiskey or with or has got <lb />
the traitor in his soul and has driven <lb />
a dagger Into the heart of <lb />
In regard to the distribution of <lb />
the Dr. said that <lb />
a campaign manager would get a <lb />
ward political and pay him for <lb />
his time and service, and that crook- <lb />
ed ward politician would go out and <lb />
fire the hearts of men with key. <lb />
you go to the man who is re- <lb />
for the campaign and ask <lb />
him about it he throws up his <lb />
hands in horror and says, don t <lb />
know anything about if. If he does <lb />
not know, then he ought to know. <lb />
Suppose you try this Let <lb />
one go to him and suggest. <lb />
Will you make an affidavit that so <lb />
far as you know neither money nor <lb />
whiskey was used to purchase <lb />
Is there a man who believes they <lb />
would do it And if they don't, <lb />
then the grand jury ought to begin <lb />
to grind. <lb />
time to stop so much talk <lb />
about disfranchising the and <lb />
disfranchise somebody else, the men <lb />
who buy and sell votes. Between <lb />
the two. I'd take the every <lb />
time. I'm not one-halt so much <lb />
afraid of the floating <lb />
ant vote you call it down I <lb />
am of the crafty, designing men who <lb />
control the floating vote by whiskey <lb />
or money and who combine In every <lb />
city and every slate In the Union to <lb />
secure legislation favorable to their <lb />
interests. You who are before me <lb />
have not sold your votes, but some <lb />
of have done what is infinitely <lb />
worse. You have bought the votes <lb />

The speaker recognized the <lb />
of campaign funds to meet the <lb />
expenses of keeping the issues before <lb />
the voters, but a distinct line of de- <lb />
must be drawn between <lb />
legitimate and illegitimate expense. <lb />
it is drawn, then our <lb />

those employed to advance rapidly <lb />
in one line or other. This has not <lb />
been the rule In the schools where the <lb />
system has been adjusted to meet the <lb />
requirements of the average pupil, <lb />
with special provision made for those <lb />
below the average. <lb />
The net result of this system has <lb />
been retardation for which the <lb />
are not to blame. The <lb />
educators have decided that the <lb />
old system of trying to make all <lb />
fit the same educational pattern <lb />
is unsatisfactory in general and par- <lb />
unfair to the bright pupils, <lb />
who are to be given special attention <lb />
under a more sensible and equitable <lb />
method. <lb />
NEWSPAPER PRESS FOR SALE. <lb />
Having placed an order for a new fast news- <lb />
paper and book press, to be installed the middle, of <lb />
April, we have a newspaper press that will be <lb />
sold at a bargain for delivery May 1st. <lb />
It is a Press, large enough <lb />
to print four 6-column pages, or two <lb />
pages and has steam fixtures so that it can be run <lb />
either by hand or power. Been in use six years. <lb />
It is a splendid press for a weekly paper and <lb />
is in good condition to do many years good <lb />
vice. We used a press from the same factory for <lb />
before installing this one, printing a daily <lb />
paper with small circulation about years of that <lb />
time. Its speed, an hour, is too slow for a daily <lb />
paper with the present circulation of The <lb />
tor, and for that reason we are having to displace <lb />
it with a faster press. <lb />
Any one interested and wanting a good press <lb />
for a weekly newspaper, can see this press at work <lb />
every day in the Reflector building, before our new <lb />
is installed. Any one who cannot come to <lb />
see it at work and examine it, can get particulars <lb />
by addressing <lb />

The Richmond Times-Dispatch con- <lb />
the following account of a <lb />
good roads meeting recently held In <lb />
the roads, we'll pay for <lb />
the slogan of a large <lb />
of school children and young <lb />
folks who came to the road meeting <lb />
today on a special train from <lb />
and intermediate points. <lb />
The crowds was augmented here by <lb />
the addition of the pupils from the <lb />

remarked upon that the educational <lb />
advantages which are afforded these <lb />
many of whom poor, wore <lb />
only brought about through the <lb />
of bonds for building the fine <lb />
school houses at and the <lb />
other points. It was very significant <lb />
in view of the fact that battle is <lb />
on in the county for a bond issue of <lb />
i the election to occur next <lb />
Tuesday. <lb />
the roads, and we will pay <lb />
for the slogan of the children <lb />
I who represent the posterity whom <lb />
those against bonds are so afraid to <lb />
burden with debt, was certainly a <lb />
most striking feature of the meeting <lb />
today. The teachers of the schools <lb />
I and many others wore badges <lb />
ed the issuing of bonds I <lb />

those who are opposed to the bond <lb />
issue. Among the speakers was <lb />
Judge who stated that the <lb />
proposed bond-issue was beyond the <lb />
demand and need of the community. <lb />
The people and sentiment of the com- <lb />
in a large measure, were <lb />

the Boy. <lb />
The announcement in The Reflector <lb />
a few days ago inquiring for Herbert <lb />
Owens, one of the prize winners in <lb />
the boy's corn contest last year, <lb />
brought him in today, and the State <lb />
diploma and cash premium were de- <lb />
livered to him. Herbert lives near <lb />
Fountain, in the western end of the <lb />
county. He made 97.1 bushels of <lb />
on his acre last year, and says he <lb />
is in the content to be a winner again <lb />
this year. <lb />
Earns Vent, <lb />
Dividend, Making Total of <lb />
Per Cent in Eight Years. <lb />
The annual meeting of the stock- <lb />
holders of the Consolidated <lb />
Tobacco Company was held today in <lb />
the Star warehouse, about two <lb />
farmers being present. <lb />
In calling the meeting to order <lb />
President L. Joyner spoke of work <lb />
of the company in the past, how it <lb />
had overcome the difficulties and op- <lb />
position encountered, and showed <lb />
where -it had made money for the <lb />
farmers of Eastern North Carolina. <lb />
He gave the status of the tobacco <lb />
farmers now as compared with the <lb />
last few the attitude of the <lb />
company In Urging reduction of ac- <lb />
and Control of production as a <lb />
of controlling prices, and <lb />
what the farmers should do in this <lb />
direction in future. He predicted <lb />
that if the farmers use wise <lb />
this season, they will get the <lb />
best prices for the next crop they <lb />
have ever received. As he always <lb />
does, Mr. Joyner gave the farmer <lb />
good advice, and the close attention <lb />
they gave all he said showed their <lb />
interest. <lb />
Secretary W. H. Jr., then made <lb />
his annual report. This in brief <lb />
shows that the property of the com- <lb />
located in Greenville, Roberson- <lb />
ville, Kinston and Wilson, is valued <lb />
at The stock issued Is <lb />
and the indebtedness Of the <lb />
company This the <lb />
property of the company worth near- <lb />
more than its entire out- <lb />
standing stock and indebtedness com- <lb />
which is a fine showing for <lb />
the corporation. <lb />
The earnings for the past year <lb />
were a fraction over per cent, and <lb />
of this directors ordered that a <lb />
dividend of per cent be paid to the <lb />
stockholders, the balance to be car- <lb />
to the surplus. This makes a <lb />
total of per cent the company <lb />
paid in dividends during the eight <lb />
years of its operation, an average of <lb />
more than per cent. <lb />
Taking into consideration that the <lb />
crop in Eastern North Carolina last <lb />
year was pounds short, <lb />
that the company was able to make <lb />
per cent is remarkable and shows <lb />
how well its business is managed. <lb />
An expression of opinion as to what <lb />
date the markets should open next <lb />
season was taken, and by almost <lb />
unanimous vote the tobacco boards <lb />
of trade of Eastern North Carolina <lb />
were requested to open the markets <lb />
on September <lb />
The terms of Messrs. A. A. Forbes <lb />
and S. V. Joyner as directors <lb />
they were both re-elect- <lb />
ed for five yea s. <lb />
Before adjourning President Joyner <lb />
e a few more, urging the <lb />
to give the company their <lb />
hearty co-operation, showing them <lb />
the necessity of some organization <lb />
based on business principles by <lb />
which they can make their needs and <lb />
requirements effectively felt, and best <lb />
promote their own interests. <lb />
Following the meeting of the stock- <lb />
holders there was a meeting of the <lb />
board of directors at which they re- <lb />
elected L. Joyner, president; T. R. <lb />
Hodges, vice, president, R. J. Cobb, <lb />
treasurer and H. Jr., <lb />

GREENVILLE, N. C, FRIDAY, APRIL 1911. <lb />
Number <lb />
Some Good Advice to Corn Contest Boys of Pitt <lb />
Farmville, N. C, April 1911. <lb />
Editor <lb />
It is a of pleasure to me <lb />
to be able to truthfully say that Pitt <lb />
county was ahead in the corn <lb />
contest last year, inasmuch as Pitt <lb />
had nine successful ones and no other <lb />
county above five. It is true that <lb />
several boys reported having made <lb />
more corn than our boys, but this <lb />
was due to the corn having been <lb />
planted upon land which had <lb />
ed previously an abundance of fer- <lb />
for other crops. Nine out of <lb />
forty is not a very large per cent., <lb />
especially as we want eleven out of <lb />
a total of forty-four this year. If <lb />
you try and fail, do not be <lb />
aged, but profit by your failure and <lb />
try again. <lb />
There is one thing that I wish all <lb />
to know right now, and that is that <lb />
guano, as usually put up, will not <lb />
make a profitable crop of corn, no <lb />
matter how much you may use; and <lb />
also you must remember that poor <lb />
land without excessive quantities of <lb />
animal manure cannot produce as <lb />
much as sixty-five bushels of corn. <lb />
With these two facts well establish- <lb />
ed, lets see if we can, what is <lb />
for success in producing a <lb />
large crop of corn. After the land <lb />
has been well prepared and well <lb />
planted to a good variety of corn, <lb />
provided the seasons are normal, we <lb />
should be able to forecast with <lb />
accuracy how much corn we <lb />
may expect. <lb />
I learn it from good authority that <lb />
a crop of thirty-five bushels will re- <lb />
move from the land of <lb />
nitrogen, pounds of phosphoric <lb />
acid and pounds of potash. Now <lb />
if you have planted land that without <lb />
any fertilizer would produce thirty- <lb />
five bushels of corn, in order to make <lb />
thirty-five bushels more doesn't It <lb />
seem reasonable that we should <lb />
ply to the land in some form lbs. <lb />
of nitrogen, pounds phosphoric <lb />
acid and pounds of potash <lb />
A ton of first rate horse or cow <lb />
manure will contain approximately <lb />
pounds of nitrogen and will be as <lb />
valuable as pounds of nitrate of <lb />
soda. If you use stable manure to <lb />
furnish the nitrogen, you should <lb />
ply three and six-tenths tons. If <lb />
you prefer nitrate of soda you will <lb />
need pounds, or if you prefer cot- <lb />
ton seed meal it will take pounds. <lb />
If you have used two tons of stable <lb />
manure then you might use only <lb />
pounds of nitrate of soda. <lb />
Two hundred pounds of acid <lb />
and three hundred of <lb />
should supply the need, pounds of <lb />
phosphoric acid and pounds of <lb />
potash. <lb />
Now, boys, do not expect seventy <lb />
bushels of corn with any less <lb />
and do not be too sure of <lb />
the seventy bushels with even <lb />
that much. <lb />
In this contest not over ten dollars <lb />
of bought fertilizer should be used, <lb />
so continue every week to put on all <lb />
the hen house manure and all the <lb />
ashes raised upon the place. Stir <lb />
your land about two inches deep <lb />
week and keep all the weeds and <lb />
grass out, and I believe you will make <lb />
a fine crop of corn. <lb />
Of course if your land, unaided by <lb />
fertilizer, will make only fifteen bush- <lb />
els of corn, then the amount <lb />
by me should be doubled. <lb />
You see it takes nearly one pound <lb />
of nitrogen, one half pound of <lb />
acid and three-fourths pound <lb />
of potash to make a bushel of corn. <lb />
If I am correct 8-2-2 or 8-4-4 goods <lb />
are not properly balanced for corn, <lb />
but we should have 4-8-6. <lb />
Furthermore, I believe one hundred <lb />
bushels of shell marl applied to an <lb />
acre would supply sufficient <lb />
acid, and one might cut out <lb />
that much bought fertilizer. <lb />
My son has not planted his corn <lb />
yet, but he has put out about three <lb />
tons of manure and is mixing it and <lb />
grazing it with sheep, hogs and <lb />
calves. <lb />
JUDGE <lb />
The Grand A Large Docket <lb />
At This Term. <lb />
The April criminal term of Pitt <lb />
court convened in the city hall <lb />
this morning with Judge E. B. Fur- <lb />
presiding and Solicitor C. L. <lb />
representing the state. <lb />
The following were drawn as grand <lb />
Jurors for the J. F. <lb />
foreman; H. A. Gray, J. B. Carroll. <lb />
Q. T. Evans, W. Harvey Allen. W. A. <lb />
Pierce, W. W. Whitehurst, James H. <lb />

house, W. S. May, A. B. Congleton, <lb />
B. O. Turnage, J. O. Johnson, G. G. <lb />
Ward, J. E. Barnhill, C D. Smith, E. <lb />
P. Stokes. <lb />
In his charge to the grand jury <lb />
Judge Furgerson said the <lb />
assembling the court called all <lb />
persons having complaints to come <lb />
forward and they should be heard. <lb />
It matters not how humble a citizen <lb />
may be, he has a right to be heard <lb />
before the tribunal of justice. An in- <lb />
man has nothing to fear by <lb />
the assembling of a court, but the <lb />
guilty should have justice merited <lb />
to them. To let the guilty escape <lb />
may be merciful to them, but it is <lb />
not justice to the body politic. The <lb />
courts are for the protection of the <lb />
rights of the citizens. It matters not <lb />
how strong a man may be and able <lb />
to protect there is a time <lb />
in every twenty-four hours that he is <lb />
absolutely helpless. He cannot stand <lb />
around his property or his home to <lb />
protect It, therefore he needs pro- <lb />
of the law. The best <lb />
We have is good citizenship. <lb />
Every law has a penalty attached. <lb />
Without a penalty the law is worth- <lb />
less, and be that violates the law <lb />
must pay the penalty. It is so in <lb />
the laws of nature, it is so in the <lb />
laws of property. But for this there <lb />
would be no reward for industry. The <lb />
man who would be happy must con- <lb />
form to the rules of happiness. <lb />
To have good citizenship every man <lb />
should cheerfully obey the law, and <lb />
those who fail to do so should have <lb />
the penalty of the law enforced <lb />
against them. It is for that purpose <lb />
that we come together in courts of <lb />
justice. <lb />
There is no more important officer <lb />
in any county than the justice of the <lb />
peace or magistrate, and his duties <lb />
should be performed justly and <lb />
partially. To him the people of his <lb />
community come for a protection of <lb />
their rights and a redress of their <lb />
wrongs so far as the magistrate may <lb />
have jurisdiction. It is wrong for <lb />
a magistrate to take jurisdiction be- <lb />
his authority, but should send <lb />
such matters to the higher courts. <lb />
Judge Furgerson also made refer- <lb />
to the importance of officers <lb />
properly handling the public funds <lb />
coming into their hands. <lb />
As to the general list of crimes he <lb />
deemed it useless to go Into these, <lb />
as the attention of the grand jurors <lb />
has been often called to them, so he <lb />
laid down only a few general <lb />
pals for their guidance. <lb />
Generally speaking, Judge Fur- <lb />
charge was an excellent <lb />
on good citizenship and right <lb />
living, things that make for the up- <lb />
lift of the people in morality, home <lb />
government, education and happiness. <lb />
His words carried weight with them <lb />
and all who heard them were helped <lb />
by them. Two standards he laid <lb />
down as the best deterrent of crime <lb />
It's queer how much interest a <lb />
dignified man can generate in a dog <lb />
fight. <lb />
