Author Biography

Albert W. Mann was a private in the Forty-Fifth Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment. He enlisted September 15, 1862 and was mustered in September 26, 1862. He was mustered out July 7, 1863; however, he reenlisted in April of 1864 with the 1st Unattached Company M.V.M. for a hundred days. He worked as a bank clerk in Massachusetts after the war. The Executive Committee of the Association of the Forty-Fifth Massachusetts Regiment elected Mann as Regiment Historian whereby he should collect, research, and write a book preserving the history of the Forty-Fifth during the Civil War.
