				<p>The author traces the history of the public schools of Robersonville, North Carolina, in six sections: Colonial times to the 1880s; free schools from the 1880s to 1902; a description of the early schools and teachers; the graded school movement, 1902 to1923 and the beginnings of the high school movement; the high school consolidation movement, 1923-1935; and the Robersonville schools from 1935 to 1959. A roster of teachers is appended to the narrative.

				<p>Thelma M. Smith (b. 17 Apr. 1914) was born in Greene County, North Carolina. She taught English and history in the  Robersonville public schools for many years. Mrs. Smith currently resides in Robersonville, where she  participates in her Methodist church.  She has three daughters.
