				<p>This story is about a young boy who was put on what he thought was a Yankee ship, but it was really a group of Confederate sympathizers. They make it down South, but the crew has to beach the boat on the Outer Banks to escape the Yankee Navy. Bennie and one of his companions, Calhoun, escape through the Dismal Swamp and return to the North.</p>

				<head>Author Biography</head>
				<p>Arthur Willis Colton  was born in Washington, Connecticut, May 22, 1868, to Willis S. Colton and Lucy P. Gibson Colson. He graduated from Yale University with an A.B. degree (1890) and a PhD. (1893). He was an Instructor of English Literature at Yale for two years and from 1906 to 1929 was the University Club Librarian in New York.  During this time he was writing short novels including <title>Bennie Ben Cree</title>, <title>The Delectable Mountains</title>, <title>Tioba</title>, <title>The Belted Seas</title>, and <title>The Cruise of the Violetta</title>. He also made several contributions to magazines. In September 1917, he married Amy Richards. Colton resided in Palisades, New York, until his death December 28, 1943.</p>
