TWENTY-FOURTH REGIMENT.

This regiment was the Fourteenth Regiment of Volunteers,
and served as such the first year of the war.

It was organized at Weldon, N. C., about the first of
July, 1861, with the following Field and Staff officers:

Dr. W. R. Witson, Assistant Surgeon, of Granville

Cuartes D. Crarx, Quartermaster Sergeant, of Wake
County.

Lawrence E. Durry, Orderly Sergeant, of Onslow
County.
