$1800 REWARD. For a number of years the lower part of Chicod Township, Pitt Co., has been the scene of numerous incendiary fires and: other acts of Inwlessness. Of late incendiarism has been even more frequent. On the morning of Sept. 28th, J. J. Laughinghouse lost a Gin House, Fobacco &c., this was followed on the morning of Oct. 138th, by the burning of the ‘Tobacco Pack House of J. Bryan Grimes. A short while since Mrs. J. H. Saunders also suffered from fires of the same origin. In view of these aggravated offenses the Gov. of North Carolina has offered $600 reward for the apprehension of these criminals. The Board of Commissioners of Pitt Co. offer an additional $600. J. J. Laughinghouse offers $300 and J. Bryan Grimes offers $300 reward. Total $1800 reward. During the month of November the Gin House of W. L. Smith was burned with heavy loss; also the Gin House of R. T. Wilson was fired. The circumstances surrounding these cases, with such information as we can give, convince us that a shrewd, competen4 man can easily within a short time ferret out the author Or authors of these crimes.
