In recent years the East Carolina Manuscript Collection has become a leading academic repository for the preservation of materials pertaining to the U.S. Navy, maritime studies and naval collections from 1826 to the present. This digital collection includes records of shipbuilding firms located in North Carolina and other states, documents related to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and materials pertaining to maritime transportation in general.
