- The Helene Story is a 16 mm black-and-white documentary film produced by the news and weather departments of WNCT and WECT. Narrated by W. E. Debnam, the film features storm footage and special weather sequences provided by Roy Hardee and Harold Ludwig. It documents the effects of Hurricane Helene as the storm struck the Carolina coast on September 27, 1958, capturing the widespread damage and response efforts in eastern North Carolina and surrounding coastal communities. In 1960, WNCT submitted The Helene Story for consideration for the duPont Awards. Runtime 23:59.
