- Description
- Best wishes to a WAVE card sent by Mary Cullinan to Ellen Zukunft. The card gives a basic outline of the role of women who joined Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) in the United States Naval Reserve during World War II. The card includes illustrations of WAVES members in uniform. Zukunft joined WAVES in 1942, serving with the 6th United States Naval Reserve District Headquarters in Charleston, S.C., and the Naval Training Center in Sampson, N.Y. She resigned her commission in 1946, but remained in the Naval Reserves until 1957. Date approximated.
