Description
Inauguration ceremony for East Carolina University Chancellor Richard Eakin. Presiding officer is C.D. Spangler, Jr., President of the University of North Carolina. Welcome speakers include representatives from universities attended by Chancellor Eakin and the ECU Board of Trustees, Governor of North Carolina James G. Martin, among others. UNC Board of Governors chairman Philip G. Carson is the inaugural speaker. The oath of office is administered by NC Court of Appeals Judge Gerald Arnold. Chancellor Eakin gives his remarks, and the ceremony closes with the singing of the ECU Alma Mater and a benediction.
