ECU School of Medicine 1982 Convocation
Description
Convocation honoring the 1982 graduating class of the East Carolina School of Medicine. Ceremony opens with an address from Dr. William Laupus, Dean of the School of Medicine and the introduction of notable visitors by Dr. Edwin Monroe. Dr. F.M. Simmons Patterson is awarded faculty emeritus status by Dr. Laupus. Next to speak is ECU acting Chancellor Dr. John Howell. A keynote address is given by ECU professor of surgery Dr. Charles G. Rob. Dr. Laupus introduces the members of the graduating class, and various awards are conferred by Dr. Laupus and others, including Class of 1982 president Richard Mackenzie, who also leads the class in reciting the Declaration of Geneva. Class member Gene Lee Dowell gives a response, and Dr. Laupus gives closing remarks.
