ever witnessed in ashington
was that of Mr. E. Murray Short.
yesterday afternoon. The funer-
al exercises were conducted at
the Presbyterian church, of which
he was a consistent member, by
Rev. Dr. C, M. Payne. The church
was crowded to its utmost capa.
city by sorrowing relatiyes and
friends.

Horse Killed.

A wan was riding a poor horse
vesterday evening, and when near
HumberTs machine shops the ani-
wal stumbled and fell, breaking
its right fore leg near the shoul
der. A crowd gathered around
and Chief of Police James was
requested to shoot the animal
and put it out of its misery.
