BORN DIGITAL ACCESSION: Oral history interview with East Carolina University alum Debra Newby. In this oral history, Debra Newby talks about her childhood, as well as her experience being one of the students who filed a Title IX grievance against East Carolina University in 1978 and how that impacted the rest of her life. Newby attended East Carolina University from 1975-1979 where she was a member of the women's basketball team and majored in English. Along with four other students, Newby filed a Title IX grievance with the university in 1978 focused on equitability issues in the university's sports programs. Interviewer: Alston Cobourn.
