Description
Black and white photographic negatives of U.S. Navy net tender Elder, hull #462, under construction at Marietta Manufacturing Company, Point Pleasant, W. Va. In the first two images, taken from off the front and rear quarters, respectively, the keel is laid and transverse plates constructed. In the third, taken from off the front quarter, a transverse bulkhead has been constructed. The first two images identify the vessel as "Juniper," later photographs show hull #462 identified as "Elder." Dates approximated from USS Elder Wikipedia article.
