The true life of Maj. Lewis Richard Redmond, the notorious outlaw and famous moonshiner of western North Carolina : who was born in Swain County, N.C., in the year 1855, and arrested April 7th, 1881 / written by R.A. Cobb. Raleigh : Edwards, Broughton & Co., 1881. 32 pages. Includes illustrations. Joyner NC Rare copy includes autograph of S.E. White [Sigmoubug?] Burke Co. on front cover and additional markings on back cover. S.E. White was the former owner of the book. A short biography of the outlaw, Lewis Richard Redmond, known as "King of the Moonshiners". By the age of twenty-one he was notorious for evading Revenuers in the hills of Western North Carolina. In 1879, he shot and killed a federal agent trying serve an arrest warrant. He fled to Pickens, SC, where he was later captured.
