Oath of allegiance
An oath of allegiance by members of Capt. B. Hill's Brigade taken at U.S. Forces Headquarters, Guntersville, Alabama, May 16, 1865. The signers swore they would not bear arms against the United States following the surrender of the Confederate States of America and the conclusion of the Civil War. Also included are the complexions, eye color, hair color, height, and rank of the signers.
