General Bryan Grimes's Washington (N.C.) Toll Bridge Records

General Bryan Grimes's Washington (N.C.) Toll Bridge Records
A sampling (Sept. 11-18, 1870, undated) of records of tolls charged at General Bryan Grimes's Washington, North Carolina, toll bridge. The volume (1870-1871) lists type of conveyance (man with cart, footman, etc.), the tolls charged per day with a weekly summary, and the apparent deduction from the total for the person taking tolls, but not the names of the people crossing. Two loose pages of toll collections which don't have a year listed do list the names of the people crossing (if known).
