Sponsored by the Institute of Outdoor Drama of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, this annual meeting brings together professional
managers, directors, playwrights, promoters, designers and composers, as well as representatives from community planning groups, for workshops, panels,
tours and open discussion of topics relating to the writing, production, and management of outdoor historical drama in America.

Located in the heart of Kentucky?Ts Bluegrass Country, Bardstown is the home of Paul Green?Ts musical tribute to Stephen Collins Foster (1826-1864),
considered by many to have been this country?Ts first truly American composer. The play contains 50 of Foster?Ts most appealing songs, dramatized by
Green from manuscripts created by the composer for the original Christy Minstrels. With a professional and semi-professional cast of 50, The Stephen

Foster Story has played to over 2,000,000 people during its 33-year run. The Stephen Foster Drama Association will host the 1991 Conference, providing
an insider's view of theatre operations, facilities and community involvement.
