Dear Margie:

Your letter about preparing a news release on the conference
just arrived. Its a great idea and we can easily target the
area papers you mention. In the past, we have sent a story
to all the major NC daily papers, as well as major East Coast
papers. The UNC News Bureau will send the story, along with
photo, to whatever papers we specify, at no cost to us.

I thought you might look over the enclosed information and
let us know what, if any of it, you: would like us to include
in a news release. If you have any other copy which we could
incorporate into the story, feel free to send it.

If you can provide photos to accompany the releases, that
would be great. Were probably talking about 40 photos, at
most. The photo of the Eagle Dancer that we?ore using on the
cover of the conference brochure (copy enclosed) would be
excellent.

Sincerely,

Scott J. Parker

Dear Scott:

I think we can get some pre-publicity out of your meeting

if you wish to prepare a release to send out. I am sure that
the papers in our surrounding area will use a release, and

it may be that some of the larger state papers would pick it
up. If you want to prepare one, I can provide some photos

to go out with it. I am attaching a list of the papers in our
area that I feel sure would use it or at least part of it.

I think if you have some statistics on money generated by out

door dramas, attendance figures, payroll statistics, etc. that

the papers would use it. You might aim it toward summer employment
for college students/teachers, etc. I am selfish in this, in that
I think some publicity about your meeting at Cherokee might bring
some attention to us!

Let me know if I can help on this in any way.

Sincerely,

med
