Strawberry soldiers

Strawberry soldiers
Painting by Britni Nicole Broda for Spring 2011 in ART3561. Acrylic and oil. My Grandpa on my Mom's side fought in Italy, in the 10th Mountain Army Division during WWII. He was very proud of all his achievements and people he helped in combat. I thought about him a lot while being in Italy because he went to a lot of the same places I did, which was comforting, and an amazing awareness for me. I choose to relate my new painting to Belli Capllie’s whip cream on her Strawberry. I choose to change the environment since this is not an actually picture of my Grandpa but a reference of his division; as a reminder to myself but an alternative outcome for the viewer. The figures don’t appear on Elayna’s strawberry in but a little world happening in a closer view.
