Ms. Morgan, a professor at the University of Florida and former schoolteacher, discusses their childhood in an agricultural family in Lillington, Harnett County, N.C., her and Robert's time as students at East Carolina Teachers College in the 1940s, his time in the Navy, and his beginnings in politics.
