The tree with the "fence" around it was affectionately known as "The Oak". The fence had become a bench by the time I first arrived in 1965. My brothers and I attended Camp Leach in the 1960s while attending St. Christopher's Episcopal in Havelock. The Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina closed Camp Leach and Camp Oceanside in 1985 after completing the expansion of Trinity Retreat.
