I can just see people collecting and turning in green stamps at Overton's. Parker was a classmate starting in the 7th grade through highschool. He is a true success story. He had a smart good woman behind him all the way and still does.
My name is CHARLES DICKENSI lived at 104 Vance ST Greenville NCParker was my neighbor he lived on the corner from mewere we would play as kidsnow I see his old store, here in fount of my eyes
This building is on Jarvis Street. It currently houses City Market.
Overton's Super Market was owned by Vance Overton and located on the corner of E. Third and Jarvis Streets. The store burned probably in the late 1950's. Vance's son, Parker Overton, later became the owner of Overton's Sports Store on Red Banks Road which shipped items worldwide.

The large white building in the background is the original hospital ... I think it was on Elizabeth St....
