Black and white photo portrait of North Carolina Governor W. Kerr Scott as found in the book Public Addresses, Letters, and Papers of William Kerr Scott. Scott served as State Agricultural Commissioner from 1936-1948, Governor of North Carolina from 1949-1953, and U.S. Senator from 1954 until his death in 1958. East Carolina University honored Scott in 1962 by naming Scott Hall after this former Governor and US Senator, who had championed higher education for eastern NC. Photo date approximated
