Portrait of William Bradley Umstead from Volume 76 of The North Carolina historical review. Umstead (a native of Bahama, North Carolina) served in the United States House of Representatives from 1933 to 1939; the United States Senate from 1946 to 1948; and as Governor of North Carolina from 1953 to 1954. East Carolina University's dormitory, Umstead Hall, was named for him. Date approximated.
