This letter was written by Joseph Edgar May of Co. F, 2nd North Carolina Infantry. He wrote the letter from Fredericksburg, not Lynchburg, Va. He informs his mother of the death of his brother "Bud Frank" which was Sgt. Benj. Franklin May who served in the same company. I transcribed the letter and posted it at: https://sparedshared23.com/2022/07/25/1863-joseph-edgar-may-to-elizabeth-dixon-may/
