Letter from Jacob Dresbach, while in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to his wife Mary Dresbach in Cincinnati, Ohio. He notes he is suffering from rheumatism, discusses the sale of goods, and writes that he will send his brother, Joseph, on a boat ahead of himself. Jacob spent much of his time on business trips between Cincinnati, Vicksburg, and New Orleans, as his business involved shipping commodities by riverboat. Jacob eventually died of typhus fever in August 1845. more...
