Description
A handwritten letter from Venetia Cox in Hankou, China, to her mother B. T. Cox in Winterville, North Carolina. Venetia discusses learning to read Chinese and struggling with the characters; a recent church union conference with Bishop Roots and Dr. Saunders; troubles with laundry and clothing; and briefly mentions the commonality of dysentery among Westerners in the area. A native of Winterville, Venetia Cox was an Episcopal missionary music teacher in mainland China between 1917 and 1950.
