Gertrude Stewart booklet
A booklet of two circular letters from Gertrude Stewart dated Hankow [Hankou], China, July 1918, with annotations by Venetia Cox, including note on front page: “This is Dss. [Deaconess] Stewart’s last yr. report of her work,- which will give you an idea of the kind of work done in our house.” In the first letter, directed to friends in America, Stewart discusses her three Chinese adopted daughters and her upcoming transfer to Changsha. The second letter, to Bishop Roots, provides her annual report for June 1917 to June 1918 for her work at St. Phoebe's Training School for Deaconesses and Other Church Workers and as superintendent of the primary day schools.
