Description
Photograph of and letter addressed to United States Coast Guard Auxiliary member Wayne Sartor. The letter and photograph were presented on the occasion of Sartor being awarded the US Coast Guard Certificate of Merit for towing a burning cruiser to the bank of the Little Kanawha River in West Virgina with his vessel. The letter was written by W. J. Smith, Admiral of the United States Coast Guard. Sartor was a member of the 2nd Coast Guard District Auxiliary and was from Parkersburg, West Virginia.
