Letter from Edward Warren MD, Surgeon of the Post, in Portsmouth [N.C.] to Captain Thomas Sparrow. Dr. Warren writes that Private Bradley of Captain Johnson's company has been sent to him for treatment. Dr. Warren's quarters are occupied by people with a contagious disease. He asks Sparrow for instructions on what to do for Private Bradley. From the papers of Thomas Sparrow (1819-1884), a lawyer from Washington, N.C. who fought in the Civil War and later represented Beaufort County in the North Carolina General Assembly.
