Letter from William Blount Rodman in Raleigh, N.C. to Thomas Sparrow in Washington, N.C. Rodman discusses trying to speak with the North Carolina governor. He relays information about the mustering of troops, uniforms, and the gathering of about 5000 men in camps in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Goldsboro. The Civil War correspondence relates the activities of Thomas Sparrow and his Washington Grays from their formation as a volunteer company in April of 1861, until their parole from a Union prison in February, 1862.
