Broadside with engraving and text describing the Ku Klux Klan's attempted lynching of John A. Campbell in Moore County, North Carolina in August 1871. Includes artist depiction of robed and hooded Klansmen with animal-like masks surrounding Campbell and holding a noose around his neck. Text describes actions of undercover United States secret service agent Joseph Hester in freeing Campbell and having the Klansmen arrested.

John Campbell was my great-great-great grandfather. I am including his encounter with the Klan in a book I am writing. I am searching for the text in the copy under the picture of him with a noose around his neck. I need to know the name of the judge in Raleigh who tried the Klan members.
